Question

Someone explain this to me...

What is the reason that the Broncos are going to hold on to Brian Greise until June 1st cuts? They have convinced themselves that they will not get a team to give them a 1st round pick and Shanahan was quoted yesterday saying he will be cut, June 1st.

Is there a NFL policy-reasoning-salary cap thing that causes them to wait?

It lessens the cap blow if he is cut after june 1st....its halved

Under league policy, if Denver has given Griese permission to talk to other teams about a trade, is it OK for a team to negotiate and secure an early commitment from Griese to play for that club come June 1? Or do they have to wait?

Also - How about this? TJ for Griese right now - today. But Denver picks up part of the cap hit.

If there is one team that does NOT need a RB it's the Broncos. They have a stable full of them (and good ones not a plug like TJ)!
