Smokescreen 1, ASFN 0

Well, a lot of us fell for that "no big FAs" bit hook, line and sinker. Being wrong never felt so good. At least they're making an effort to go after the big man.

I gotta agree with you Ed. This smells like a smoke screen and not just the increase in the cap.

Remember Warner wanted some sense of comfort that the Cards were going to upgrade the talent on the team. I know I assumed that meant O-line FA's at the time but maybe it was about Edge.

You don't bring someone in on the first minute of free agency just to window dress. It's still not terribly likely that he will sign here, but good for the Cardinals for bringing him in and making what we can assume to be a reasonable offer.

Maybe I'm just getting my hopes up but I think Edge will become a Cardinal and the deal will be done sometime on Sunday.

Just look at the energy and excitement on the board today with Edge visiting. Imagine the PR if he actually signs. The front office has to realize what a HUGE impact this would make not only on the field but for the Cards reputation.

Save enough money for another FA Olineman and spend the rest on Edge. Okay I exagerate my point but it is to make a point.

I agree. Even if we don't sign the guy....our actions today speak loud to our fans, the city of Phoenix and the NFL.

Maybe things will finally start turning for the better in the Desert??

Only a small vocal minority who have blind loyalty and hopes will take Edge getting away as a win, if he doesn't sign I would expect the media and most Phoenicians to think same ol' you know what.

Ricky Waters held a press conference, Colvin used the cardinals like a nickel wh*** if I remember correctly, it hasn't gotten that far yet but the Cardinals are very good at talking up players they don't end up signing.

Good intentions are nice but results are the only thing that will really speak volumes.

This time, I think things are different. It looks as if the Cards are really trying hard to land the best FA this offseason. If you think about that, it's really amazing. I'm sure they put a pretty good offer up for Edge. It might not have as big of a signing bonus as he might get, but I'll bet the package is not backloaded much and has a good base salary. Most players know that the Cards honor their contracts and he will have the best chance of anywhere to actually collect whatever huge contract he signs here for.

Plus, there are not a lot of other teams trying to get him now. Min is out (Chester Taylor), Colts will wait 3 weeks. Seattle has Alexander. Cle has spent their cash. GB resigned A.Green.

It appears that only Jacksonville or Bal are left in the RB hunt and actually have reasonable cap space.

I think James and his agent better very seriously consider the Cards offer or they may end up with much less somewhere else.
