Schrager's Analysis

From Foxsports.com
SCHRAGER ON THE SCENE: The Cards grab Antonio Cromartie's cousin, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, out of Tennessee State. Cromartie had a pretty great pre-draft season, dominating the Senior Bowl, killing it at the combine, and then blowing everyone's mind at his Pro Day. He'll now go to Arizona, where he'll join recent draft picks Matt Leinart, Larry Fitzgerald, and Levi Brown in re-building the Cards. Somewhere, Leinart's pumping his fist in approval ... or pumping a keg. One or the other.

Ok I am not a huge Schrager fan but as high as everyone was on us for getting Leinart it seems they are starting to laugh at us for it as well. I also heard ESPN (Mort or Jaws) and I believe NFLN make reference to this as well. I really hope ML can pull it together because Whiz is really putting something special together here and I would hate to be in the position of drafting out second QBOF in 3 years next year IF ML can't get it done. I really hope he can because I think he can still be the best QB out of that draft class but I would be lying if I didn't say I am starting to have serious doubts starting to creep in....

There's always Warner. Whiz won't hesitate if necessary.

Yeah but for how much longer? I like Warner but the bad picks and numerous fumbles are worriesome. I do not want to turn this into a ML vs. KW issue but this is a turningpoint year for the Cards and if ML doesn't get it done this organziation is screwed.

Ride or die. I think ML will work it out. If not we reassess next year. I don't see Kurt having the year he did last year, given the chance, this year.

Anyone for drafting Booty? I think Leinart and Booty might know each other.

Oh, a thread that will devolve into bashing Matt Leinart. How freaking novel.

Wasn't my intention Donald I like Leinart a lot. I just hope it all works out this year seeing as how the only time the national media pays attention to us is either A) when they need to crack jokes or B) someone does something bad. We are starting to turn the corner now and I feel that all the peices are coming together for a deep playoff push IF Matty can have a good year (I think he will). That schedule doesn't scare me I still say 11-5.

Just remember Leinart has not even PLAYED a full season yet!!! I'm willing to give him 2 more years, but I still think he can take us to a championship. He looked pretty solid for a rookie in year one and played in a total differant system last season before getting hurt. As much as he says he like Kurt, I still think it hurt his confidence last season early when Kurt was put in to run the 2 minute offense. We need to keep this kid on his feet, protect your investment with another stud lineman.

One cannot accurately judge a QB in this league until he has about 35 games under his belt. Barring injury, we will have a real good idea what we have in Leinart this year..................................

jsut about the time we clinch a playoff spot!

Yeah, real smart. Let's all get all over Vince Young and Jay Cutler while we are at it. Denver wasn't too great last year and Young went the other way. Pretty tired discussion about a guy who hasn't even put a full year of play yet. Toughest position in the league to hit the ground running and the "experts" are all over him....what a joke. Those who are super critical, name five QB's who hit it the first year. You'll have to think awfully hard.

The problem with Leinart to me is strength, and potential injury problems on every play. I'll hope for the best, and am glad we have warner. That said, I think it was steve young who commented (and I've never heard this come out of a pundits mouth)...there are NO clear cut QB prospects for the 2009 draft. He actually said 'no prospects' but I'm thinking he meant.. no one has been identified or separated themselves, and no studs or pedigree type qb's are coming out. If true, we might need to wait until 2010 to draft ours. If that's the case Matt has 2 years. I'll hope for the best.

Oh, not your fault. The author of the article is at fault for his "trying to be funny" comment.

Schrager the guy who called Breston a 7th round pick and Patrick undrafted. Not my favorite he likes to rail the Cards whenever he gets a chance.
