Huh.

Well, it's an inside look. Not a bad read either.

At dinner, all the rookies wanted to eat quickly and get out of there. The veterans, at any time, can command a rookie to stand on his chair and sing their school fight song. I don’t even know if Shepherd has a fight song.

Editor’s Note: That’s likely because the Shepherd band hasn’t played it for several years during football games. It happens to be the same fight song as Southern California.
Cool.

It's REALLY strange to see an article from the local paper about a player from my alma mater . . .

I sure wouldn't a thunk it!

It can't be easy to live in the one-bared shadow cast by Player

"I’m competing with Player for the punting job, we have a good relationship. He’s real nice. I ask questions and he helps. I’ve learned a lot."

I bet he learned a lot. I can see Player saying, "just before I punt the ball, I close my eyes so that I don't get distracted by the crowd waving their arms."

"Don't worry about guys like Devin Hester. Just kick right to them and you will be fine."

Blocked punts? That only happens three, four times a year tops -- and then its really not that big a play. Dont worry about it, kid.
