See, you nailed it for me, although I'd have taken Smith in Rd 3.
I know some in here don't agree but Docuet was a sick pickup and will be our best rookie this season. Something about that guy. I loved our draft and the first three picks. I know some of you guys are concerned but this was a really good draft for us and we are going to be pleasently surprised by at least two players and one will meet our expectations (good). Be happy this is a GREAT day to be a Cards fan.

I hope not. If they don't believe we need talented speed at the RB position, then I'd have to question their sanity. Shipp, while he has a great heart, doesn't have anything in the tank. JJ simply isn't any good; definition of speed without talent. Edge is a solid back, but he isn't as fast as he used to be and was never a burner. It sounds like pumping sunshine when I hear our own coaches saying he (Hightower) might not time fast but 'plays' fast, although I hope they are 100 percent correct.
Heck, I'll be on board with this kid. He's an uderdog with a great nickname. What's not to root for? I just question how we failed to get a good RB out of this draft.

Well I am a long way from the most knowledgeable here but try this for size.
We are planning on being explosive in the passing game and this kid is supposed to be able to block.
What we really needed has a meat grinder to shorten games and leave winning them to Q and Fitz.
That would be a complete change in philosophy from what Whis wants, but I'd be on board with it for now. It would show our coach is smart enough to play to our strengths and to not try and force a change overnight. The concern then becomes our speed on the outside. Do we have enough speed at the WR position to do this? Adding Early will help in terms of possession receiving, but what about fly patterns and taking it to the house? As much as I love Fitz, he is clearly not that guy. He'll make big catches down the field, but he hasn't been the home-run threat we need. Who fills that role for us?

Its obvious that with the roster as is it will have to be Rector or Breaston. Either they step up and do so or we go without. We averaged 25 points a game with out any burners. The offense doesnt "need" one to be successful.

Yes, but the reason we averaged that much was because Warner had to sling the ball around so much to keep us in games because our defense was atrocious. We didn't have much of a running game but had to pass a ton, which rightly didn't help us get into the playoffs. We're not going to be the same offense as last year; that means we should run more and gunsling less. Ergo, the offense does need something more, IMO, to be successful.

Interesting that Hightower didn't seem to run with a Fullback. I don't actually see him as much more than a special teams player. It seems like the Cards didn't like the value of the runningbacks on the board when they were picking higher.
Hightower looked like the best kid on a high school football field in that highlight video. The NFL is two whole levels different from where he's coming from.
The could have given up everything they've taken so far on day two and helped the team more by moving up and taking Charles or Smith. This guys is a slightly stronger than Shipp, not any faster and not likely quite as good at breaking tackles. He is a decent receiver, but might become a fullback. A little more height would make him more attractive at that position. He may be cheaper, but he doesn't make the running back group better.
No disrespect Harry, but how many hours have you studied Tim Hightower? My guess is about as many as I have which is zero. Give the kid and the Cards a chance on this one.
RB out of Richmond. Downhill runner. Probably no speed to the outside!!
I read he is a good short yardage man. That is something we do need. I doubt he could replace James as an everydown player as he does not have the moves or speed. Hope we come up with a couple more RB's as free agents. Must be good one hiding out there somewhere.
Very much agree. It is simply so frustrating for me, though, to watch one of the deepest RB classes of recent memory pass us by, and we have to settle for Hightower out of Richmond. Not even a speed guy the team told us it wanted. I apologize for sounding bitter, but all this optimism in the face of our utter failure to get one of the good RB prospects just isn't enough for me.
Look at it this way:
this was one of the weakest Wr drafts in recent memory as well. So much so, that even those teams that used a high pick on a WR didn't really help themselves much. We are one of the few teams in the league with a superior wr corp. that didn't suffer because of that. In fact, we even managed to make our lethal wr corp. more explosive with the addition of Early.

We had numerous typically fluke "Cardinal" losses last year. A "W" in any of them would have meant plyoffs.
Season-changing plays
Green not slapping the ball out of bounds vs the 49ers
Warner getting hurt in the 2nd play of the game against Carolina
Rackers choking from 32 against SF
Rackers choking from 46 against Bal
Rackers choking from 53 against Wash
Dockett making a stupid penalty against Wash
Wilson's BS penalty in B'more
The BS pick against Tampa/Fitz thinking the sideline was the goaline.
That was also our first year in the new O. Look for continuity to be apparent and us to grow as a team this year. We only lost one starter from last year's team which is pretty damn good.
