I think about my earlier comment about him being Shipp.... and I forget 1)how old Shipp is and 2) how much he makes. Replacing him may not be a bad idea at all.
I suggest you google him and go to the richmondspiderstv.com link an watch the highlights on Hightower. I'll tell you what, when you do, you will see why the Cardinals are enamored with him. He hits the hole super hard, has very good vision and once he gets free he's like a runaway train. Even though he's listed as a 4.5-4.6 guy, he looks a lot faster on tape.
The Cardinal who would know Hightower is Ben Patrick...they played in the same league (A-10). In fact, Hightower scored the winning TD and ran for 120 yards in a thrilling 5 OT 61-58 win over Joe Flacco and Delaware this year.
The fact that the Cardinals took him so early...5th round...speaks volumes. They are really really high on Hightower. No question about it.
DraftSeason: Tim, what are some words you would use to describe the type of running back you are?
Tim: Relentless and determined.
DraftSeason: What are your strengths as a player, how about your weaknesses?
Tim: I think my strengths are just being a tough physical player who is willing to do whatever it takes to win and be the best. Whether it is blocking, running, catching or tackling, I will do whatever it takes to help my team win.
DraftSeason:Coming from a smaller program like Richmond, do you feel you’ll have to work extra hard to get the attention of scouts?
Tim: I really just look at it as I'm going to continue to work and train like I have and I feel like everything else after that will take care of itself. I don't think it has anything to do with where I come from. That does not change who I am or what I do.
DraftSeason: How will you respond to teams that question the level of competition you faced at college in comparison to a player at a big time program?
Tim: You respond by always giving your best in everything you do. People don't believe what you say but they always believe results. I can't control what environment I was in. I am very thankful for being able to play at a place like Richmond under good coaches and great teamates. Richmond taught me a lot, and most of all it taught me how to be appreciative of everything and what it means to really work hard and commit myself and I think those qualities will speak for themself when I get the opportunity.
DraftSeason: Who was your favorite NFL player to watch while you were growing up?
Tim: I would definetly have to say Walter Payton and Barry Sanders. I watched a lot of clips of Walter Payton and Barry Sanders. I love their running styles. Walter Payton taught me to just be relentless and to never die easy, he was just a tough nose type of runner while Barry Sanders was electrifying and could excite you every time he touched the ball. It was like he created magic every time. I just like the combination of the two.
DraftSeason: What is one thing that most people don’t know about you?
Tim: Just how much I love the game of football. I think today a lot of people play it for many reasons and not to knock anyone else or put down anyone else, but there are some who just are passionate about the game and who just love the game of football and everything about it. I think that's another reason I loved Walter Payton so much. He seemed to enjoy every minute of it.
DraftSeason: Is there a current NFL running back that you would compare your style of play to?
Tim: I don't like to compare myself to others. I have a lot of respect for those guys who are already where I would like to be and I don't feel that it is right for me to compare myself to them. I try to just be the type of guy who just works hard and tries to form my own identity.
DraftSeason: And finally, what is your all time favorite movie?
Tim: My all time favorite movie is definitely Remember the Titans. I think it shows the game of football at its finest and what effects it can have on an individual, a team and a whole community.

.......why the team didn't make any trades, either up or down. With our fifth, and even fourth, round pick, there must have been a RB, that we could have moved up for. IMO, our only hope is that a LOT of NFL RB's have come from the lower rounds. But Hightower's forty time depresses me. Guess we have to place our trust in the FO on this one.
I think after the Doucet pick Whis stepped out for lunch and told Graves "You hold down the fort I'll be back in couple of hours." Whis is going to come back find the War Room is disarray and yelled at Graves "WTF did you do to my draft?!"

What limited write ups there are on Hightower make him sound a lot like Baylark and Marcel (i.e. runs hard, one-cut, between the tackles, forget about getting to the outside or any kind of breakaway burst).
What started out a pretty good draft on Day One and round 3 is beginning to take on the flavor of that last wonderful foul mouthful or warm beer still in the can.
I hope Mitch's observations turn out to be accurate.

Just because none of us would have made those picks (4 and 5) doesn't mean that the Cards didn't do their homework on these smaller school guys.
Of course they are off the radar to us. But for them, they have good scouts who vouch for these players.

I think you know the answer to that question, R............Ok , i won't do it.
Maybe we should look at it in another way. Last year the Cards wasted a 3rd round pick on a guy that didn't project well into the NFL. If the trend continues, it'll be in the 7th next year.
