Would a differant vet QB like a Warner...bring this team along faster next year or are we really 3yrs away or 2 from a legit contender?

Honest to God, knowing what little I know about how good McCown will do, I would rather him lead us into next year than Warner.

Think anyone here on this board "really knows?"

This vision keeps popping in my head of Warner in a Cardinal uniform dropping back and repeatedly getting knocked silly until, after 5 or 6 games, all that's left is a broken up punchy guy who wishes he never had become a Cardinal QB in the first place.

Scary thoughts (& hopefully just BS). But it does lead me to wonder what it is that other teams - like the Rams - have going that make guys like Warner successful that we don't?

A few possibilities - (1) Poor game planning, (2) Poor offensive schemes and play calling, (3) erratic offensive line play, (4) receivers who fail to run good routes or get open enough, (5) inability by the other 10 guys on offense to bail-out their QB when a play breaks down.

If we could get Warner for cheap, then sure. The guy has a hefty price tag and carries a lot of baggage, including an outspoken wife.
