I think that he can continue to be a 1200-plus, 8 TD player for the next three to five years. They've invested a lot of money in the TE position between the 2006 draft and Randy McMichael. They don't need a bonus baby 3rd WR, especially after they just signed Drew Bennett.
You can keep repeating that Torry Holt isn't good, or whatever. But you still haven't responded to the fact that the Rams signed two other receivers in free agency. How are there going to be enough balls to go around, especially as they convert to a more run-oriented offense.
Frankly, I think they're more likely to pick up Marshawn Lynch than Ted Ginn.

Good for you. Nice job. You mentioned two of my favorites. One being Eric Wright. Character issues will keep us from taking him albeit as I mentioned he is top 10 material. Spaeth would be a steal way down where you have him. As good a blocking TE as there is in the draft.

Let's go with "or whatever," becaue I never came close to saying Holt wasn't any good.

They picked up a TE and a 3rd WR. Frankly, I didn't respond to it because I didn't think it was a major consideration.
As for having "enough balls to go around," I don't think that's as much of a major concern for HC and OC as it is for a WR or fantasy football players. Talk to any HC and I'll bet you'll find they don't want a cap on the number of options their offense has.
K9, I've asked you (as have others) a number of times and I've never really gotten an answer from you: Why are you always so contentious? Couldn't we have a conversation about this without the condescending attitude?

i also think we'll go DE, assuming Thomas in 1, in round 2. But i think there is going to be a better prospect available at 38 like Anthony Spencer or Georgia teammate Charles Johnson. Moses could even be an option in round 3 because his stock has taken a hit over the last month or so.
May I interject and offer an insight on the Dolphins.
The Dolphins, literally, have no QB. Culpepper failed another med exam. Their O line sucks. They have 1 RB, literally. Training camp quality TEs. 2 journeyman WRs only. They just spent a ton of free agent money on Joey Porter. The drafted Jason Allen, a dud safety with #1 pick last year ( big contract).
Those listed factors suggest selecting Laron Landry at Safety might be a huge tactical error. The Dolphins have stated a desire to build through the draft. A trade down might be the best move for them.
BTW , I really think the Raider draft pick is what controls the remainder. That one pick will create a huge number of optional scenarios. I suggest a whole bunch of teams want that pick to be Russell, leaving them better choices at their own picks. My guess is that Russell falls if Raiders don't take him.
Branch and Okoye may be reaches at those picks, but I don't have better selections.

I have no problem with people who presented supported takes that disagree with mine. But when I hear that the Rams are going to take a WR with the buttressing argument that Torry Holt is past his prime and Drew Bennett is a #3 WR, those opinions are so divorced from reality that I become frustrated, and as more assertively for legitimate reasoning.
The same thing with the Falcons taking Okoye over Landry. That to me only evinces the poster's ignorance of how terrible the safety situation is in Atlanta.
I understand that there are a lot of posters on this board who are largely ignorant of the needs and talents of other teams in the National Football League. I just wish that they'd admit what they don't know when they're called out on it. "Because I said so," is never and argument.

I don't think I I ever A) claimed to know all things about all teams, or B) stuck with a pick simply "because I said so." In fact, I even changed a pick in this mock based on a poster's comment.
Also, I googled "NFL Draft 2007 team needs" and while it wasn't a large percentage, there were two sites that cited WR as a need for the Rams -- incidentally, both claiming "aging receivers" as the reason.
Obviously, I'm NOT an expert...but then, neither are you. So far, only one of us has admitted our "ignorance."

Randy McMichael is somewhere between mediocre and just plain sucks. Major off field issue also. Likes to get drunk and beat on his wife ( more than once ).

Oh, I think he'll likely be there in the second...just not 5 picks into the second...
Zackly. He will be like a cheap 1st rounder. Anyone of the first 4 are likely destinations. Someone might even try to fill a need and take him late first.
I only wish he was available to the Cards in the 2nd. If not hope like mad that John Beason is available, which I doubt.
