It wasn't coaching today other than the bone-headed decision to try a fake FG with that far to go.
No the problem today was a defense that played poorly in the second half, and a secondary that showed again why they need to take a course in Tackling 101. Edge's fumble was probably the turning point, but the fumbled snap and Levi Brown's poor play (including the bone-headed penalty the only time he showed some real fire) didn't help matters either.
This is a very good Carolina game, but you simply have to win tough games like on the road to be considered a good team.
Just curious why Kurt didn't throw the ball initially to J.J. Was J.J. not looking for the ball?

No guy's it was the Officating that lost us this game. When you see white painted dirt rise as some one steps out of bounds and is rewared with a TD then I call it OFFICATING...!!!
BOBCAT
Regardless, he should have been tackled. Officiating blew the call, but we blew the tackles that let him get the TD.

It's refreshing to see a coach be a little different from the norm. We can always look back with the should and shouldn't have. However, lad's and gentlemen we had a 17-3 lead in the 3rd quarter. Edge fumble was killer as was the non call on Smiths td.
All said and done we were on our way to taking the lead back until the tipped int. Had we been able to stop a 3rd and 13 RUN, we would have got the ball back with a chance to win.
Idisagree we were outcoached. Players make plays and players fail to make plays. Today we failed 1 time too many.
As for being in a weak division and winning it by default. SO WHAT! I'll apologize to nobody for that. How many years have the Seahawks enjoyed that situation. We are 2 games up in our division and hold the lock in our hands. We win the next 3 games against our division foes and we can start saving our money for playoff tickets.
Will we win the next 3 games? I don't know. But I'll be in St Louis doing my part! There is no quit in this team. With this offense as long as there is time on the clock I feel we can win. Kinda like Coryells boys.

We got screwed by that BS call by the ref that gave the Cats 7. Someone ought to thump his head good to make his eyes come back into focus. Combine that bad call with the bad calls from the Dallas game, and this Cards fan is about to don his tin foil hat, because it's starting to look like a conspiracy.
We screwed ourselves because:
1) We didn't take the points when we could get them. By that I mean getting the field goal when we went for the fake (take the points early, and go for it late!), and kicking that PAT. There's our 4 points - and our ticket into OT.
2) We didn't tackle. Period. Time for the defense unit to do tackle drills this week - if we don't improve this critical skill, we're not going anywhere.
3) Too many turnovers - 2 is 2 too many. That pass to Arrington was too high, and I think, barring JJ knocking it down in front of him, it was going to get picked regardless if he touched it or not. It shouldn't have been thrown that high. That fumble by Edge hurt us bad as well.
4) We had no running game. We had 67 total plays, 14 of which were runs. The remaining were passes. We ran for 50 yards. We have to improve our running game - our passing game can only take us so far.
Our next 3 games are against division opponents - we need to sweep all three. Let's hope the coaching staff corrects the problems so that we can move forward and WIN!
