Is there any doubt that Bill Belichick is the single greatest football coach of this era?
Loses his #1 HOF QB, #1 RB, #1 play making Safety and has still has this team on top of his division at 6-3. With an un-drafted rookie RB at the helm and a QB who haden't taken a starting snap since he was in high school.
Spy gate aside and his pompous attitude aside. This guy deserves some major props.
How many teams could get destroyed like that with those injuries and still be sitting where the Pats are?

So he pushes the envelope.... I like that in a coach.
BB is the best coach at diagraming a defense to STOP an opponent, it was devistating when Bruschi/Seymore/Law etc were in their prime, but he put them in a position to dominate.
The media likes to take shots at him because he doesn't like them back, I dig that about him too, IMO the media is way to invasive into their lives/jobs, he's got to play by the NFL's rules so he puts up w/ the idiots in the media, yup I said idiots, cuz compared to him, they haven't the foggiest idea what football is about, and I think he has en ego about it, which is a character flaw, but not enough to hate him imho.

If you were to pose this question on a Cleveland Browns board you might get a different response.
Personally, as Abomb said, I think that he is a beneficiary of having one of the best GM's and Owners in the NFL as backstops for him. LVG poses the question, "would you like to have him here?" and I would probably say "no", because even as far as this team has progressed, we are not blessed with one of the top 2 or 3 GMs in the business and the Bidwills (while definitely improving since Michael took the reins) are not Robert Kraft either.

Keeping a team like the Pats where its at the top of the division with the injuries they have accrued is a testament to the coach. Not the GM.

Turning mediocre depth into serviceable players who are producing is the job of the coaching staff. Also with Belichick you can bet that he has a HUGE say in personnel decisions.
