It's sad when you are pining for Scott Player, but the decision to stick with Johnson looks worse each week. I can't believe there isn't a better option at punter out there. Even under perfect conditions at home, it's either a duck or a line drive on almost every punt. Quite the contrast when the 49er's punter is bombing 67 yarders. Granted he's a pro-bowler, but it shows you how much a good punter can affect the field position battle.

"I think about the game 24-7. I don't think there's an hour that goes by that I don't think about basketball."
He had a terrible game that's for sure. Couldn't punt for distance, couldn't pin them. one of the reasons we were behind the whole game was field position and he had a big part in that.
I'm not a big believer in the inside the 20 stat the NFL keeps. Johnson has 12 of those but to me, inside the 10 is where it's really telling, inside the 20 doesn't really give you much info on whether he's doing a good job of it or not.
HOpefully he'll bounce back next week. In his defense he probably wasn't used to punting that much in one game.
A great year? I think that is a major stretch. He has been serviceable so far, which has been a bit of a surprise but far from great.
Nope. The first 5 or 6 games this year have been solid. I'd say that this is is a stretch.

I'll go along with this... The punter has one job and if he can't execute in crunch time you find someone that can. However, he has been a marked improvement over what was here last year, so I'll give the guy a pass on human error

He has had several lapses including the critical fumbled snap on the extra point and lame pass on the fake FG at Carolina. Solid is a bit strong. He just looks better compared to last year's unmitigated disaster.
At some point Whis and company need to upgrade the punting game IMO. I hope it's next offseason.

He has fumbled a couple snaps. I wouldn't describe his year as anything other than average.
He's definitely been nothing special. And, if he wants to be here next year, he can ill afford any more games like last night's.

The curse of Scott Player. The best thing about one bar is I never had to think about him.
My one regret about Player is that he never attempted a punt with a cigarette hanging from his mouth. That would've been awesome! Just picture it in your mind....
