Not much for the "What might have been game". But I'll play this one time.

Thomas Jones just got his first 1000 yard rushing season.
I live in Iowa, so I get pelted with NFC North games, including the Bears. I've got to watch TJ play. Whatever wasn't working for him as a Cardinal is not an issue for him now. He can run inside, he can run outside. He can show patience and power but seems to have a good grasp of which is more appropriate at the right time. He just caught a pass in the flats out-juking Joey Porter behind the LOS for a 15 yard flight upfield.

Man.
I'm excited to see what J.J. can bring to the table, but part of me goes "dammit" every time I see TJ play competent ball. Mostly because I would have perfered he do it here...

To gain 1,000 yards in a season, a RB only has to average 62.5 yards per game. It took Jones 6 years to finally do it.

People talk about Leonard Davis not living up to his draft position? Jones hasn't come close to being worth a top 10 pick so far in his career.

Well, the Bears do have a few more games left, so it's not like Jones has averaged 62.5 yards a game.

A shame he never got it going here, the light turned on for him when he left. Cards can't help that.

Plus, if I'm not mistaken, Jones even missed a game or 2. That means he averaged around 100 yards per game. Not bad at all....

But he had I beleieve 6 games between 800-900 yds. He has been a steady performer. He one hell of a lot better than JJ will ever be.

You don't know how good JJ will be. We know for sure that it took two teams to get TJ going. I'm glad he is having a good season, but to say JJ will never be as good as Jones or so and so...That's just frustration or anger, because this is only his first year behind a bad line with multiple changes almost weekly.

maybe/ maybe not

while i always liked tj and thought he would make it big eventually somewhere you cant count jj out as a bum just yet. he has shown a few good moves and some quickness to the outside thusfar.

Quite honestly, how many 1000 yd rushers in this league could do it behind our o line.

With the passing game we have, a simply decent line would give us a great rushing attack simply because no one in the league could stack the line on us and afford to put one on one on fitz and Q with much confidence of not getting burned

But the bottom line is until we have that rushing attack we cant be considered a legit team because in the ened, to be successful in this league you must first be able to run the ball and stop the run.

Imagine the big pass plays that would evolve if opposing defenses had to respect a constant threat of the simple 4-5 rushing plays on 1 and 2 down

J.J's a young back. I've seen things from him I like, I've seen some areas he could improve on.
This is most certainly NOT a rip J.J. thread. It was just a quick look back on a former Cardinal player who had been proforming well.
Something to add to an assesment of TJ as well...
Everyone expects the running game when they play the Bears. Lots of 8 men in the box. That makes it very impressive.

I'm a big TJ fan, and I also like JJ a lot...not as much as I liked TJ coming out though.

However, JJ has done things already that TJ did not do in his first two years....and JJ will be a far better back than Jones.

It's painfully obvious that no one could have much success coming out of the backfield with the line play and coaching we've had.

Maybe it was his RB coach in Tampa...Kirby Wilson.
