I am amazed they didn't try to throw it in at the end as they came all the way down the field with ease then decide to not even take a shot? THank you from us Cards fans that were sure something bad was going to happen.
Just sending a message to Singletary. I despise defensive HCs.

I can't believe anyone seriously attaches the "genius" tag to Martz anymore. His offenses have consistently led (or been very close to the lead) the NFL in turnovers. He's HORRIBLE. If he was our OC, I'd give up my season tickets. There's no way I'd pay that much to watch our QB get slaughtered and blow games with killer turnovers.
yeah the reality is that his system is the reason O'Sullivan led the free world in turnovers before being benched. I don't fault Singletary for changing Qb's or changing the system to reduce the turnovers. The problem is, at the end when they least could afford it, they turned it over 3 times.
Martz in college would be interesting. I do agree with him in some ways, like he likes to go on 4th down more than convention says and I totally agree with him. But he just refuses to scale back when going for the big play leads to so many turnovers and hits on the QB.
Maybe the reality is that the Rams suck since he left. The lions offensive game made huge strides after he got there and Matt Millen couldn't run a draft to help him out. Millen got fired, Martz got fired and they suck worse now. He is now the hobbled OC of the 49ers who have one very good offensive player and a bunch of has been, never was, won't ever be players to coach, while his boss is an interim rookie looney. Yet somehow they competed to the very end of the game last night.
Not bad for an ASU assistant coach.

For Martz' system to succeed he has to have a very special quarterback. Those are few and far between. The trouble is they have a short shelf life because he exposes them to so many hits with his empty backfield sets. It's what he did to Kurt Warner and later Marc Bulger in St.Louis.
At the pro level, he would be a lights out quarterbacks coach, and in the right environment, he could be a good offensive coordinator. But it's going to be very difficult for him to land an NFL gig after this season IMO.
But get him in a Texas Tech like situation and he turns a program around IMO.

If you like exciting losses, he's the guy for you. The only time he was truly successful was when his Rams teams had such overwhelming talent that they could suffer 3 or 4 turnovers and still put 30 on the board. Personally, I'd rather win 12-10 than lose 29-24 with 3 late turnovers and a cutesy playcall at the goaline that gets stuffed.
