McGinnis would make a great head coach

A great head coach on the college level. Dave has all the attributes you would want a head coach to have in college, motivation and loyalty. The loyalty part can ruin you in the pros but is huge on the college level, just ask the poor kids in Alabama when there college fled off to A&M when he told them he would stay. I don't think Macs a bad defense cord. when that is all he is responsible for on the pro level.

He was when he was DC here. When was the last time we had a Top 10 defense? He wasn't even the head defensive cheese when he was here; Tobin was a defensive head coach.

I completely agree with K9. Our last great defense was '94. McGinnis' defenses were all soft up the middle and you could throw long on them. Barring when Simeon/Swann were here, there has been no pass rush, and McGinnis has failed to develop any players other than LBs into solid NFL playmakers.

He might know a good deal about coaching linebackers, but his track record when coaching a defense speaks for itself. It sucks.

McGinnis is tailor-made to be a color commentator for the NFL. He has good sound bites, communicates well and would be an enjoyable or folksy person to listen to during the game. As far as coaching, I think he is better served as a position coach. He falls in the category of the Jerry Glanville type coach.

I don't know, it depends on what you consider a "great" coach at the College level. There is a guy just like McGinnis who is a head coach at a BCS Conference school. He is a "great" motivator, very loyal and always has a quip for the Press.

.His personality enables him to consistently bring in what are considered top recruiting classes every year which has helped him post an .821 winning percentage over the past 3 years.

However his teams tend to suffer from poor game day coaching, just like Dave's, and this has cost him several "big" games.

His name is Mack Brown.
