I am as guilty as the next guy when it comes to judging McCown. But if you look at the big picture and realize that this is a 3rd year player drafted in the middle of the 3rd round behind the likes of David Carr, Joey Harrington
, and Patrick Ramsey
(all 1st round picks), he hasn't done that bad. McCown has his faults and no one knows for sure what we have in him, but he is currently 6-8 as a starter which is a better winning % than Carr, Harrington, or Ramsey at this point in their careers.
To use a different comparison, look at his winning % versus the past Cardinal quarterbacks and he probably has the 3rd best winning % behind only Jim Hart and Neil Lomax over the last 35 years of Cardinal football!!! He has a better winning % than Plummer, Blake, Schroeder, Esiason, Kreig, Rosenbach, Hogeboom and any other tread other than Hart and Lomax that this team has fielded the last 35 years.
Lets all give this kid a break and appreciate what we have instead of constantly ripping him for every fault the kid has. What we have right now is an athletic, hard working, blue collar quarterback who has his faults but who would risk everything he has to get us a win or a first down. Not bad considereing what this organization has had over the last 17 years since Lomax.
