Let's slow down the HOF Express with Hightower

He really does look good so far - better than we ever could have hoped from a mid-round pick - but when I read this board I feel like we're going a little overboard with our new favorite player.

He's got all kinds of talent, great hands, and might be a legit #1 in the near future. That said, we've had other guys (Pittman, Shipp) look good as backups and not set the world on fire as starters. Timmy looks a lot better than those two guys, but I'm afraid that if the expectations for his performance as a starter (which I assume will be next season) are ridiculous there's bound to be some serious disappointment to follow. He's looked great in spot duty but some of the comments are like he has walked on water or something.

I wouldn't say he can walk on water, but there are rumors he turn some water into wine.

I hear he also appears on tortillas in Mexico. It's the "Lady of Guadalupe" and "Hombre of Richmond."

He's also on a grilled cheese on eBay.

I agree. its too early to crown him... there is more to RB's than just hitting the hole fast. Let him learn NFL another year.

Let's call it the Marcel effect. I'll be embracing it until the bitter end.

hes a nice player with a charismatic style of play --

and whenever you get a 5th rounder from a small school who contributes his rookie year, its like getting a letter from the IRS letting them you know that they owe you money.

That actually happened to me once.

Once.

All the guy does is get first downs, and TD's.
I see no reason not to be excited by him.

Please replace "Shipp" with Hightower in your tired sig Ed.

If it wasn't for that 3rd and 17 play last week, Ed I'd agree with you. But that play was just clutch, and we haven't had a back that performs well in the clutch in the 20 years the Cards have been here. Even Edge isn't that good in the clutch (remember the fumble against the Bears?).

Hightower looks like a good back. Plenty of size, speed, agility, vision, and most importantly desire.

I think he needs a 100 yd rushing game before we "crown his ass".

Not necessarily, but if he shows some good blitz pick ups, screen passes, and blocking in addition to solid rushing -- I will crown his ass. He has been a pleasant surprise, just don't want to rush and put him under unnecessary pressure. Let him learn for year and a half.

Without question, RB T Hightower has been a pleasant surprise. But, can Hightower be a feature RB? Can Hightower be the RB of the Future?

Michael Pittman. Every week they look a little more similar.
