What?!? He's finally healthy and he asks for a release? He must not be keen on playing guard.

2 years out of football.. eh. First he had the knee, the the staff infection, they thought they might have to amputate. I wonder how well he'd hold up through a season.

Wasn't his dream to play in Cleveland? It never happened though. He must have soured on something there to want to leave.

From what I read, CLE went on planning Bentley wouldnt come back. Now that he is 100%, he doesnt want to be a backup.

The Browns' front office has nothing but great things to say about him.

uh YEAH !

The guy is a beast. He would be a huge upgrade at center over Johnson.

Absolutely. I really wanted him 2 years ago. If we could trade Johnson for a tackle/guard worth a damn, we could have a really good line.

Somebody would have to go first right?

Johnson is signed through 2010 so it'd probably be too much of a cap hit to cut him. Would cutting Shipp and Terrelle Smith be enough to get a deal done. I'm assuming Lyle Sendlein would be cut or p-squaded some soon after as well.

Do we the fans want him sure we do, but the coaches are not about to give up on Johnson and the big money he has already pocketed from us, or the likes of the young Lyle Sendlien.

Bentley would only be brought in as competition for a Gaurd spot IMO.

Bentley goes to the IMO, Patriots are still looking at OL on the market to sign even after they signed Ross.

Johnson got all of his money in a roster bonus. All of it was paid against the cap last year. Not cap hit if we cut him now.

I hear ya, and I agree.

If he is open to play G, I'm sure he can start over the likes of Lutui or Wells.

Browns Release Center LeCharles Bentley
FYIEmail this Story

Jun 11, 3:24 PM (ET)

CLEVLEAND (AP) -The agent for LeCharles Bentley says the center has asked for and received his release from the Cleveland Browns.

Bentley practiced with the team Tuesday for the first time in two years after suffering a major knee injury and a life-threatening infection. He was released Wednesday.
Bentley's agent Jonathan Feinsod says Bentley wants to resume his career somewhere else. The 28-year-old Bentley passed a physical and a running test Monday and was cleared to practice with the team during its three-day minicamp this week.

To quote Phil Savage from the Browns site.

Quote:
"It was a unique circumstance," Savage said. "It just didn't work out.

"The landscape of our team has changed. We wish him the best of luck in his pursuits, whatever they are. He's indicated that he wants to play this year. There's no way for us to know if that's possible."
