That workout solidifies him as a top five pick!

Good times, but that was a seriously fast track. Spencer, the CB, ran 4.48 and 4.5, and Brandon Miree ran 4.61 and 4.58.
The article notes that Denny Green was in attendance.

Whoa!!!! He benched his own weight 20 times. I am super impressed and I don't even want the Cards to draft a WR in the first round.

Fast Track notes:
ESPN's Scouts, Inc. lists RB Miree as a 4.7 40 and CB Spencer as a 4.55 runner. Add 0.2 seconds to each 40 time to get a "real" idea of what they'd run.

Arent all of the tracks these guys run on considered fast tracks. Everyone either ran on Astro turf or a rubber track. You got to put the numbers in perspective against the other WR's.

Not necessarily. Colorado worked out indoors, on a rubber track. Georgia Teck outside on a rubber track. South Florida outside on grass. LSU inside on AstroTurf. VA-Tech indoors on AstroTurf. Tennessee ran on something called TartanTurf, which is apparently very fast.
It's important to note when some numbers are a little surprising whether or not there were other factors involved. EVERYONE at Tennessee ran fast (FB Fleming ran a 4.47!).
These times ALL look fast coming out of Pitt. I'm guessing that they were ALL running with the wind. Adjust for "inflation" and you'll have a better idea what the REAL times are.

That's patently absurd. ESPN's Scouts Inc. relies on "guesstimates" to fill in what the uninformed fan can't check themselves.
40 times are about the biggest hogwash for evaluating a prospect, and we see this every year...
Sure, it can signal a red flag if a receiver runs a 4.7, or a D-lineman runs a 5.7, but overall it doesn't accurately account for football speed. Leeland McElroy, the fabled back of Cardinals lore, ran a 4.3. Yet, Shipp has made many more plays than McElroy in less playing time (Shipp ran around a 4.65).
Minor discrepancies should be overlooked, or at least discounted.
40 times are not indicative of football speed, it's more indicative of track speed.

From www.nfl.com
"The Pitt players ran indoors on the old style of AstroTurf (the hard stuff)."
So no wind was involved. And the older astro turf isnt as fast as the newer stuff or the rubber stuff. So I find it hard to believe that these numbers are as inflated as you say, compared to the guys that ran outdoors on new astro turf or rubber tracks.

Exactly. Becuase of this run no red flags were raised for Fitz(IMO anything lower then a 4.6 is a red flag for a WR, then you have to weigh that with other factors good or bad) and only solidified his spot in the top 3.

I agree. More than ever, Larry Fitz, looks like possibly the top prospect in the draft.
Not only is he not slow, but he has great size (much better than average) and world class hands. He's Terrell Owens without the baggage.

Wow...in that case I think he has solidified himself as a top 3 pick - as long as Mike Williams doesnt run too much faster...
