Interesting YAC stat for 2004
2004 NFL YAC
We had no one in the top 20. I sure this is something that will greatly improve in 2005. I yelled all year long about the lack of YAC. Boldin was the only one getting any YAC.

This is and was the downfall of this offense this season. When your wideouts do not get behind there defenders they have to get YAC. No one on the team did this consistantly this season. Our offense was a 6 or 8 yard pass and see if the Wr could get 4 to 5 yac. Happened very rarely. Without that threat and with a meager running game to bring the saftey in to the box it is no wonder that we were near the bottom in offense.

We had separation plenty of times.
When your QB can't lead a receiver for crap, and misses them when they are wide open, 10 yards away from anyone, your YAC will suck. It's very hard to get YAC on jump balls and having to stop or come back in your route to get a ball.
deja vu, Rats.

Completly not true for this year.
YAC per catch for our 3 WR's:
Boldin - 3.0 (last year 5.7)
BJ - 3.3
Fitz - 3.3

If I were to argue with you about the Qb then yes deja vu however the only thing I here coming out of the Cards Wr is that they questioned the play calling all year not the Qbs throws. The play calling was I believe a direct result of playing to the strengths of our wide receivers. They did not get the job done on Yac or ,seperation to allow them to get Yac. I think our completion percentage was ok and really don't remember any short passes that were not right on the money. Quan had a few but he dropped a few also that hit him in the mitts as all of them did. Maybe Josh just throws a wierd ball. Some Qb do. Never heard any complaints about it thou.

Those are called slants, not jump balls...and Blake could lead a receiver.

Why
does anyone discuss the QB with D-Dogg? No matter what you discuss, if he can, he'll bring up McCown as the cause of everything that didn't work on the offense this year. This is old.
I'm very sure the play calling, like the little sideline pass to Fitz at the line of scrimmage 3 times a game or running the ball 6 times in a row, without a fake to Fitz or play action or ANY other play had alot to do with or Wr's woes this year.( Sorry for the run on sentence).
I'm hoping that with coaching changes and some inventive play calling, that will all change next season.

Oh come on. There's plenty of blame to go around and it all does not fall on Josh, and I've freely admitted that on many occasions. The OC sucked horribly, the Oline was not consistent, and our running game was up and down.
However, falsehoods about "if only our WRs got separation" I won't stand for because it is not true. I watched our WRs stand ALONE, wide open, and ignored on several occasions. We rarely ran any slants over the middle which Boldin excelled at last year, and when we did Josh either made a bad pass and forced the receiver to come back to the ball (and the D to collapse) or the receiver dropped a ball right in his hands.
It doesn't all come back to the QB, but this notion that our WRs can't get separation is CLEARLY a case of the QB not able to lead the WR.
Why does anyone discuss the QB issue with D-Dogg you ask? Because I'm not one-track, as you suggest, and because I don't act like Josh is the only cause of the problem, as you also suggest. In fact, I think the primary problem was fired and I have high hopes for the new OC.

I think you can put most of the blame on the low YAC on the OC and the QB.
