Oh and at that absolutely ridiculous call to kick an onside kick with 4 minutes to go only down 8. That was beyond stupid on Whiz's part.
ST cost us the game.

We did much better in penalties. We held the G-Men to to less than 100 yards rushing.

When you're playing against a short field continuously (I believe the announcer stated 5 times the Giants started off in Cards territory) - it doesn't take much to run up the score.

I'd save a little shame for the running game. It's almost incredible to me that they can't be more efficient running the ball with a passing offense that's this prolific.

I mean, look at Marshall Faulk's numbers. He was a 4.0 yards per carry guy in Indy, with a couple of years that weren't that good, and when he joined the Rams and their Greatest Show passing attack, his YPC shot up to Barry Sanders/Jim Brown levels. (Naturally, Faulk was a special talent and a big reason for the Rams passing attack being great, but still. He was a great receiver in Indy too... but the offense as a whole wasn't nearly as good.)

I had high hopes for the running game improving this year, and really wanted to believe in Hightower, but that's slipped away. Sucks.

As an aside, man, have I gotten sucked into the Cardinals' season. I keep having to remind myself that I need to be more depressed about the Rams. And good gosh almighty, are they ever depressing.

I watched the Eagles' game...

The final score is very mis-leading! Yes! They're in trouble. Questionable play-calling, benching McNabb etc. BUT...their "D" spent MOST of the 1st Half in the Ravens' backfield. They BLITZED the daylights out of Flacco! It was the Ravens "D' which played light-outs the WHOLE game that won it for them. So, can we beat the Eagles?? VERY short week. Frozen field. Hostile crowd. Can we?? YES! BUT NO WAY is this a gimme'. BUT guess who comes visiting after the Eagles?? Hello, Rams! Hello WEST Championship! GO CARDS!

I'm certainly upset with this loss. We proved that we still don't have the mentality of a winner. Sure, we battled back, but on Sunday night we had the Jake Plummer Syndrome: put yourself in the hole, and then look impressive coming back (or almost coming back) to win. Mental errors galore. Heads NOT in the game. Failing to make the big play. Giving up the big play (our defense was ATROCIOUS in giving up the big play at the end, though it was our special teams that put them in the position to fail). It wasn't winning football. Even Warner had a down game, and very much cost us the game in his own right. All-in-all, no, I was not proud of our effort. Proud of our heart in sticking in the game, yes, but heart will only get you so far.

You forget that the Cards scored on the opening drive. That was not a Jakelike performance. No pick sixes.

I'm talking about the team's performance in the comparison, not Warner's (although he did hurt us badly twice). Yes, we looked good coming back, but it was our own selves that pretty much put us in the hole to begin with. You don't win consistently that way, and you don't beat good teams that way.
