I had the last game of the year circled ever since pre-season and I wasn't the only one.
Whiz was upset with the "game-planning" by Green Bay in that game; not wanting to show anything to future regular season opponents, his plan was simple football and he was notably irratated with scheming.
The thought was we would settle it at the end of the year. Well, the end of the year rolls by and the handwriting was clear that Green Bay would be our first playoff opponent.
Again, we were forced to watch a game where we were protecting our future game plan and key starters. Again, it was ugly to watch.
Not only did we miss the chance to get that pre-season game paid for, I had to sit in my seat and watch all the
cheese-people belly-bump in their enjoyment as they drubbed us again in our nest.
THAT hurt. Yet, I sat in my seat and shouted "defense" every now and then, and looked away as safety's added points to a blow-out. I, like the team, knew that this game didn't count. The whole Red-Bird crowd, like the team, was just "getting through" that game.
The crowd didn't bring it. The crowd sat there and took it, because coach said, "it is the next game that counts"; we kept the flame on low.
Well, now I want a piece of cheese, a BIG piece, and I don't think I am the only one.
