I didn't see this posted anywhere, but this article gives an opponent's perspective of our team.

The 49er's are walking into a buzzsaw this week.
The more I distance myself from the preseason crap the more confident I feel about this game and this season. I don't see us winning in a cakewalk by any means, however, I think we find a way to win and put this game away about midway thru the 4th quarter. I just don't see how the 49ers can deal with our passing game and if they do then I think we now have a bit of a running game that can grind it out and chew up time of possesion....just like we did in the opening game last year. That's the dilema every DC faces when the play us. With Warner at QB, he will find what the defense is giving himand will take full advantage of it.
I would love a 31-10 type of game just to send a message to the NFC West and the rest of the league that we're not the one year wonders many have predicted.
We are a team getting better. We are on a 2 year upswing with no reason to believe we won't improve. Most of the starters have now been in place for 2 years. The offensive line returns intact. The only thing I see dereailing this team would be a rash of injuries, but that could be said for 99% of the teams in this league.
Fasten your seatbelts....we are about ready for takeoff!

Does the writer not realize that we were in the SB last year?? How did we draft Beanie Wells at #28??

Man, that article from the 49ers own website makes the Cards sound like the best team of all time, with their deficencies from last year being all fixed. Weird.
I have a sneaking feeling that Wiz is going to show his philosophy for his offense for the very first time. First Half - Pass, Pass, Pass. Then when the LB's and Safeties are tired of chasing Boldin around, Second Half - Run, Run, Run, PlayAction long ball to Fitz, then run some more.
I will say though until I see all this game planning and stuff we keep hearing after the horrible preseason games, I am nervous about the game. But I have a feeling we keep intact our last two year best home record in the league status.

Let's hope that it doesn't take until midway through the 4th for us seal this win. The longer we let a team like the 49ers hang around, the greater the chance that we could lose. I expect us to come out passing the ball all over the field & send a message very loud & very clear. Once we establish a comfortable lead (1st half), we will then run the ball down their throat. Preseason has NEVER been a good barometer of how legit a team actually is. I will be very surprised if the Cardinals don't come out of the first weekend having turned heads.

What I mean by sealing the win halfway thru the 4th quarter is being up by 10 and scoring a td at that point. I don't cosider a 10 point lead early in the 4th quarter as a done deal.

This article reminded me that we fans tend to think in two or three different modes:
Training Camp and Preseason Mode tends to emphasize gaping roster-holes and depth (or lack thereof). Our focus tends to be on who will we have to back up a starter should he go down.
Regular Season Mode shifts our thinking toward actual week-to-week performance and, therefore, our front-line players.
With one or two exceptions, our 22 position starters haven't gone anywhere.
This isn't meant to denigrate the importance of the Draft, backup depth, player development etc. as the underpinnings that serve to build a solid team in the long run.
But at this point in the calendar, our attention should and will shift to the "now."
(And that "now" ain't too shabby).

First off let me say how much I enjoy all of your posts.Glad you are here.I just want to add to you post that our team is one that Whiz loves to alternate players all through the game on offense and defense. Thus at specific time maybe creating a few weaknesses in our second string cb's,Safeties and maybe nosetackles. If everyone is fresh by the fourth quarter with no injuries,of course I'll be happy.I just get worried when Matt Ware has to play too much.Although he has had one good preseason game the second game in an improved tackling way.
I want the whiner qb on his butt early in the game.We just can't let him get comfortable like he did last year. What ever it takes coach Davis to do.I hope he becomes a great coach. This is a big test, because I assure you the whiners will be full strength in the fourth quarter also. They've had a very tough offseason program.Singletary has really worked them hard.
Time for the High Octane and put the vanilla in the trash and don't save any plays for the next week.Let it all hang out this week. We'll start fresh for the Jags next week.
