I know this is slightly off topic but it is relevant in the comparison between old school Card fans and Post AZ Card fans.
I hate them. A lot. If Pujols was on another team, I would root for him (I DO respect his ability). I hate the St Louis Cardinals. Jim Edmonds is a smarmy b. Tony Larussa is a major league b hole. Glad they got smoked by the Red Sox.
And Detroit Tiger Fan. Got turned on to baseball when I was 7 years old and the Tigers won the 1968 world series. I can still remember the first time going to Tiger stadium. What a thrill.
I take my family to opening day every year. This year my 5 year old daughter is getting an interest in sports and baseball. She is going to be very excited.
Now...back on topic...sorry...

pujols could become one of the best right handed hitters of all time, but i dont really like the st. louis cardinals. i absolutely hate tony larussa, did anyone read the story in sports illustrated about how he decides when and who to bean? i think that he's a jerk.
You cut my left arm and it bleeds Cardinal Football red and if you cut my right arm it will bleed Cardinal Baseball red. Mix them together and you get a sports NUT!

I WAS a Cardinal fan, but I haven't returned to baseball since the strike in 95 except briefly during the McGwire breaking Maris' record fun and then Bonds breaking McGwire's record and somehow those 2 events just don't seem so special now.
I was a baseball and football Card fan as long as I can remember. Still pay attention to the Cards but I just can't forgive baseball for the last strike.
I'm a StL Cardinal die-hard. For example - last night I watched the Cardinal vs. Mets preseason game with the sound turned down and listened to the radio airplay by Mike Shannon on XM Radio.
On discovering there was a time-delay of about 10 -15 seconds between the radio and tv transmissions, I hit the yellow "delay" button on the TIVO remote until the audio caught up with the video. I then clicked "resume play." (I thought this was pretty cool).
I've rooted for the baseball Cards ever since I received a baseball autographed by Terry Moore in 1945. (Note - Made the typical small kid mistake of using it to play catch with - in the absence of any other available baseball -only to have it roll down a sewer).
