Cardinals Make Roster Moves

Tempe, AZ – The
Arizona Cardinals Football Club today announced that the team has placed middle
linebacker Gerald Hayes (knee) on injured reserve and have promoted defensive end Antonio Smith from the practice squad to the active roster.
The 23-year old Smith (6-4, 272) was released by the Cardinals during the final roster cut on September 3 after spending training camp with the team and was re-signed to the practice squad on September 8 where he has spent the first four weeks of the season. The former fifth round pick (135th overall) in the 2004 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma State, Smith spent the first 13 weeks of the 2004 season on the practice squad until he was signed to the 53-man roster on December 15 where he saw action in two of the three final games.
He spent this past spring in NFL Europe with the Hamburg Sea Devils where he started nine of 10 games and collected 6.0 sacks, 28 tackles and a forced fumble.
In addition, the Cardinals have re-signed Andy Stokes to the practice squad.
Smith will wear jersey #67 and Stokes will wear jersey #86.
