G. Hayes to IR, A. Smith to Active Roster
Cardinals Make Roster Moves
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Thursday, October 6, 2005
Tempe, AZ – The Arizona Cardinals Football Club today announced that the team has placed middle linebacker Gerald Hayes (knee) on injured reserve and have promoted defensive end Antonio Smith from the practice squad to the active roster.
The 23-year old Smith (6-4, 272) was released by the Cardinals during the final roster cut on September 3 after spending training camp with the team and was re-signed to the practice squad on September 8 where he has spent the first four weeks of the season. The former fifth round pick (135th overall) in the 2004 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma State, Smith spent the first 13 weeks of the 2004 season on the practice squad until he was signed to the 53-man roster on December 15 where he saw action in two of the three final games.
He spent this past spring in NFL Europe with the Hamburg Sea Devils where he started nine of 10 games and collected 6.0 sacks, 28 tackles and a forced fumble.
In addition, the Cardinals have re-signed Andy Stokes to the practice squad.
Smith will wear jersey #67 and Stokes will wear jersey #86.

No, the prognosis was always about 8 weeks. He had the same surgery that Boldin had last year. But, clearly something is not going right with his rehab.

Great, we get to go into next year not knowing if we have an actual MLB that can start on the team next year, again.
Hayes ??? (My apologies to all of the Hayes fans out there but he is still a huge question mark IMO.)
Mitchell ???(Will he step up to the NFL level and gain confidence in his Knee finally)
Hello MR. AJ Hawk Welcome to the team!

I can't for the life of me figure out why he keeps getting resigned. We've got three TE's ahead of him already on the active roster and Bronson on IR.

Why'd we activate a defensive end?
I thought we were ok there health wise...
did I miss something?

Russell Davis went to IR last week.
We played the 49ers with only 3 DE's and only 3 DT's.
Smith has experiance both at DE and the UT spots, so it makes very much sense that he is the one brought up.

He was around so we won't have to use a long distance call to talk to him.

Gerald Hayes is doing a lot to prove that he's more than the fringe player that TSN tabbed him as coming into the season.
At least you can't miss what was never there (KVB, Kenny King...)

Isn't that a card game? I think I saw the World Fringe Tour on the Travel Channel last week.
