My edited post didnt show up. Actually I made a mistake, the rushing average is barely over 3.0. I think yards per play stats are more meaningful. We had a "top 10" defense last year which was misleading because we were below average in points given up and yards per play.

I'm not questioning that measuring a offense/defense purely by yards allowed is wrong, but no matter how you turn it - It's still the official stat.
