With his TD today, Fitzgerald tied Boldin for the league lead in receiving TD's. Both are tied with T.O. and Chambers at 5 for the year. Having two receivers from the same team each leading the league seems more impressive for some reason. It isn't a record-breaking pace but it reminds of the Mantle/Maris dynamic in baseball. Two guys supporting and fueling the other.

I agree and add in, one of them hasn't played 2 games. From what I understand the other 2 guys tied, have played all of theirs. I don't think a bye week is even thrown in.
Now if we can keep that throne after the bye week. We could say
Boldin misses 2 games, and we've played only 6 games versus 7 for many NFL teams, and still have the top 2 guys. That would be nice.

You might have to explain to some who Mantle and Maris were. You are going back a few years there.

FYI Chambers did not play this week. Also worth noting, Breaston and Boldin are both in the top 20 in yards and receptions. Fitz is top 5 in both.

All good points but I figured since I didn't mention Boldin not playing that Chambers' 5 was about equal to Q's 5 in that regard. Both are doing really well and it continues to baffle me that Miami just gave Chambers away last year. San Diego really got a steal on that one.
The whole conversation just underscores how potent Arizona is on offense right now(along with San Diego). If Hightower can introduce the possibility of a running threat that can break off a 20+ yard run, it may get even better.

I just got done with Yogi Berra's (sort-of) biography and it's amazing to me how much Mantle and DiMaggio could have done if they hadn't been so plagued by leg/feet injuries.
Another comparison of Mantle/Maris might be McGwire/Sosa in '99. Just imagine those two roided up bashers on the same team. And like someone mentioned, in '61 those guys were doing it clean. Mantle was hitting 500 foot homeruns on one foot and drunk.
