He's gonna turn into a superstar this year, honest! What a "strong arm" he has!
Wait. What? You're running them down for talking up a 25 year old QB who threw for 3497 yards last year with an 88.1 passer rating? Really?
Cutler played quite well last year in his first full season as a starter. You really don't have to go to tremendous lengths to make the case that he's got a chance to be a real good one.

Don't forget that he went the whole year being diabetic and not knowing until after the season. They say that is the reason a struggled the last few games since he had zero stamina. If he has the diabetes under control, he will have a monster year.

I think Cutler is gonna be a stud. Obviously the Diabetes will likely slow him down a bit/shorten his overall career, but aside from that he has progressed well IMO.
What if we drafted Cutler @ 10? Would he be going through the same struggles that Leinart is going through right now with the system and coaching change plus having a two-time NFL MVP over your shoulder? These are questions that are difficult to answer.

Passer rating and yardage: two proven indicators of success at the NFL level!

Passer rating and yardage: two proven indicators of success at the NFL level!
To quote a great man: "Sarcasm! That's original."
Passer rating is massively flawed, but still a useful shorthand for passing efficiency. Yardage isn't important by itself, but indicates that Cutler was throwing a lot, not playing caretaker ball. Other stats... his completion percentage was decent at 63.6, his turnovers weren't bad at one per game, and in the most indicative single stat, yards per attempt, he was 9th in the league. None of this supports your "know when to fold 'em" contention.
But hey! Only nerds need evidence in order to believe something!
Cutler has another problem. Denver has another new defensive coordinator/scapegoat for Shanahan to blame for not "coaching up" Denver's usual collection of big name free agent defensive busts pickred up from other teams.
I like Cutler but Shanahan hasen't had much success with developing QBs since Elway retired.

I don't know. I thought he actually Jake Plummer about as well as you could use him. He kind of treated him like a kid moved up from the JV to the varisty, (by dumbing down and limiting the offense to the things Jake could actually do), but that was what Jake needed.

What should we be looking at to rate the success of a third-year QB, oh sage one?
What do you not like about Cutler's game?
Oh, come on. Don't get testy. I'm just yanking everyone's chain.
Cutler is like a better Jake Plummer. Unless you watch him it's hard to explain what he's missing. He's one of those guys who puts up great numbers in a game but throws a pick exactly when you need him not to. Whatever is the opposite of "clutch", that's what he is.
I'm with Jim - Shanahan and Denver are a giant excuse factory. He hasn't accomplished anything since Elway retired and they're still looking for a QB. When Cutler leads that team somewhere, I'll take it all back. When he throws for a bunch of yards on a listless team, I am not ready to put the crown on him.

Really, he's not missing anything? That's pretty amazing. Physically, yes, he can do anything. So can Kyle Boller. When he stops losing games with turnovers and actually leads Denver somewhere, then we can say he's the complete QB.

I have to give props to Shanahan. Denver won zero SuperBowls in the 12 years Elway was QB before MS was hired and two with him and last year was only his 2nd losing season in the 9 since Elway retired.
But then maybe I'm too easy going in that respect considering we've had zero winning seasons with the Cards since Elway retired and so my base for comparison isn't too high.
