To allow a escape route in situations like these for "America's teams"?

Dumbest damn rule ever.
Basically, all a qb ever has to do is move his are forward and hold on to the ball and he can never be stripped or fumble.
The qb has three options. Throw it away, take a sack, or run with it. Now add a fourth. Tuck it and lose nothing except the down.
Assinine.

Most QB-related rules are to protect the QB, but I hardly see how this one accomplishes that. It's just a random, stupid rule. And it changed this game from 14-0 to 7-7 in a heartbeat. Not to discredit the plays Dallas had to make to get into the endzone. But that drive should have been over.

I completely agree... seems the NFL is still justifying the call from the playoffs a few years ago. The call makes no sense, what is a tuck? Romo pulled the ball down, he wasn't attempting a throw.

Especially when photos show he lost posession at his shoulder. Where was he tucking it? His armpit?

The NFL has an unwritten precidence that a rule won't be changed unless it affects the final out come of a game. I appreciate the league's competition committee as they are the best out of all the 4 major leagues, but come on, this one is really, REALLY stupid

It has effected games, and playoff's and at some point a super bowl i'm sure. Stupid rule and it needs to go.
The weird thing is that by fumbling the way Romo did, he avoided a safety. Geez, smart play Tony. So the worst thing that could have happened for the Cards, once we sacked him, was for him to lose the ball............alkdjfoa;eiur;aof, makes absolutely no sense.
