The suggestion is being made, by media and others, that an increased role by Hightower has been taking more carries from James.
Here is a game by game listing of Tim Hightowers rushing attempts:
SF - 8
MIA - 10
WAS - 5
NYJ - 6
BUF - 7
DAL - 7
CAR - 6
Hard to see where the impression that Hightower's role has increased as the season progresses comes from.
The real change has been the DROP in James' carries. That is more to our increasing reliance on the short passing game than TH, as you just proved.

Because from the first week on his touches have been as third down, short yardage and goalline back...
Exactly.. His carries haven't been increasing, but his importance in the offense has. Clearly the team trusts him, and thinks that he's more likely to churn out the yards than Edge is.
I'm all for JJ getting 10-12 and Tim getting 10-12 carries a game and seeing what we have. It does seem like with JJ, the light is at least flickering, if not all the way on.
I'm all for JJ getting 10-12 weeks on the kick return team and nothing else.
The Cards have too many other effective offensive weapons to be wasting plays on slowJ

Put in a position to fail? We had a two touchdown lead and handed him the ball. He didn't get anywhere. We had a one touchdown lead and handed him the ball. He fumbled.
Good running backs make their yards in the 3rd and 4th quarters when their team is ahead. That's why "so and so team always wins when so and so gains 100 yards" cliches are always thrown around. You're winning, you run the ball and the clock. If you have a good back, he'll get upwards 100 yards and you close out the game with a win.
Edge's fumble could not have been at a worse time. He has had a knack for anti-clutch fumbles his entire career here. Remember Chicago? uuugh. Start Tim. Don't look back.
