Question

Defensive holding?

Can someone please explain to me how a defensive lineman engaged with two offensive linemen can get called for holding?

Did they call the wrong number when they said #98? Is there some rule or interpretation I don't know about that they can call this?

Are they making up calls for the Cardnials again?

Hopefully someone can help me understand.
Please forgive me if this has been covered. I can't keep up with this board.

Some savvy d linemen will grab a hold an o-lineman when engaged to prevent the o lineman from getting off of him and engaging a LB, thus freeing the LB to make the play

that being said -- its a pretty rare call

I think often it is called as "illegal use of the hands".

Thanks

I had a hard time understanding what they were calling there.

When I watch football and usually understand the rules and what is being called. Some calls against the Cards completely elude me. Of course I am biased when it comes to Cardinals games.
