Cordell Stewart
Todays Tribune: Says Stewart spent today putting together counter proposals to the Cards and Bears. His agent said his concerns are: money, security, coaching, type turf, quality of living. and endorsements Well, we are at least in the running. We can match them on money, turf, quality of living and probably coaching. We would lose out on endorsements and maybe security. We will see just how serious Graves is about wanting him. The Bears cannot match our money so it seems to me that is what it will come down to. We can get him if we want him is the way i see it. Agent said he did not want to act this fast but the Cards and Bears are apparently not willing to wait around which fine with me. We need a singing and we need it now. I think I will make my first prediction and that our first FA signing will be Stewart. If my thinking is correct Graves knows how much money the Bears have to spend and he will go over it. He is under pressure to do something and although some on the board will no like Stewart he is a name that other FA's players know and might get them to thinking about maybe AZ is not sinking. My thinking may be flawed in that Stewart seems to like Chicago and may go there even if we are a little over the Bears offer. Anyway I am going with Stewart as our first FA.

The question is, would you rather have Kordell Stewart or Byron Leftwhich? Chicago would probably draft a QB if the don't sign one.

Without a WR corp to throw to I wonder what QB really would want to play here.

His agent said his concerns are:
MoneyWe can do that (if Graves decides he wants to)
Security If he becomes da man and he wins, he's secure. Otherwise there's no security anywhere i the NFL
Coaching I love Sully, but he's not exactly Don Coryell. Edge to Bears. ,
Type TurfI don't know what the Bears play on or will play on, but our turf is considered one of the best in the league.
Quality of LivingHey Kordell, how do you like to spend your winters? Fighting off the hawk in the shadow of the loop? Or playing golf under a 65 degree sun? .
EndorsementsChicago is a better media market than the Valley
Well, we are at least in the running. I agree with that. I do think, however, there's another intangible Kordell failed to mention - team chemistry. And apparently Urlacher and a couple of other Bears really made Kordell feel welcome in Chi-Town.

Sunday morning chicago Sun Times reports AZ and Bears to received counter proposals this morning on Stewart. Reported Stewart wants around $4 mil a year for two years and does not want team to select a QB with its first pick. Bears reportedly offering just under $3 mil and Cards a little more BUT not enough more to make a difference. Bears will also bring in Brian Griese for a physical this week. They will reportedly draft a defensive player if they sign Stewart. Good bye Suggs.
