Cards notebook: Boldin’s agent pays visit
By Darren Urban, Tribune
Drew Rosenhaus, the agent of
Cardinals receiver Anquan Boldin, was in the Valley this week, but the visit didn’t include any talks about Boldin’s contract situation.
Cardinals vice president of
football operations Rod Graves knew Rosenhaus was in town but said the two sides weren’t meeting. Boldin said the main purpose of Rosenhaus’s trip was a meeting with Green Bay receiver Javon Walker, who is training in Phoenix.
Boldin is seeking an improvement over the last two years of his contract, scheduled to pay him $380,000 and $460,000 in salary. The talks are expected to heat up after the current organized team activities are over next week, and the Cards are hopeful an agreement can be reached before training camp.
EUROPEAN STARS
Tight end Bobby Blizzard and defensive end Antonio Smith have been named to this season’s all-NFL Europe team.
Blizzard had 34 catches for 335 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games. Smith had six sacks in 10 games. The Cards sent seven players to Europe; safety Adrian Mayes will play for Berlin in Sunday’s World Bowl against Amsterdam. The others were running back Larry Croom, quarterback Chris Lewis and defensive backs Clarence Curry and Tyrone Sanders.
"All those guys have to prove they can play," coach Dennis Green said. "They had to develop and the best way to develop is play games. They have to show they can indeed be an NFL player. They are over there for a reason."
EXTRA POINT
Cornerback Antrel Rolle will take part in the 2005 version of NFL Films’ "Hey Rookie" show, a series that follows four NFL rookies through their first season. Boldin did the show in 2003.
