The last few years I've watched the "experts" pick Iowa to be a second-tier team and they've been wrong EVERY time. Now, the "BETTER" (more "gifted") players are "recruited" by Michigan & Ohio State but the Iowa coaching staff "targets" the kind of players that THEY want. IOWA-type players. Ones that have the right toughness, attitude, and play-making ability. ...And it seems to be working.
My point. Denny Green is "acquiring" the type of players he believes will succeed. His "track record" indicates that he has a pretty good feel for how to put together a competitive team. We may question "this" move & "that" move but it'd be hard NOT to acknowledge that this team is better than it was. ...And is continuing to get better. As I said before in an earlier "post"--I'm just ENJOYIN' the ride. GO CARDS!!

Michigan BEAT Iowa this year, BUT it was (3) back-to-back-to-back "turn-overs" on their "own" (IOWA's)-side of the field that changed the game. The previous (2) years they beat the stuffin' out of Michigan.

Iowa beat OSU this year for the first time in awhile. Plus Ferentz just signed a top recruiting class so those "Iowa type" players must be changing.He is the best coach in the Big 10 though.I hope he leaves for a pro job soon.

Having "your kind of guys" going into battle makes a huge difference.

BUT when the season started I don't think IOWA was ranked in the top (20). At any rate, my point is pretty simple. Denny Green was hired to produce a winner. That requires having/acquiring the players that you WANT. I think he's just weeding out who to keep & who to let go. I EXPECT a competitive team this year. NOT hope; NOT wish; I EXPECT. GO CARDS!!
