Man first Fatafehi, then Jake, then Rutledge, then they looked at Martay Jenkins, and now johnson.

BTW, Riall's kid brother Teyo is in trouble in Oakland, he complained that he wasn't getting enough reps and seemed to be the 4th string TE, that's exactly what he was in the Dallas game #4 TE.

Still think the kid can play, but Turner wants him to be a better blocker, the guys ahead of him all block better.

Actually, they could still use a speedy reciever to stretch defenses and drop key passes. You know, a replacement for David Boston.

Speaking of Denver, suspicion among Bronco fans is Mike Anderson is being showcased to Miami or whoever else and that's why he got so many carries in their last preseason game.

I'm on record, don't want a guy one strike away from a 1 year suspension, but apparently Miami is considering it.

Russ:

I'd heard this rumor too, and it makes a lot of sense. After only four years in the league, and one season as a feature back, Mike Anderson still has some tread on his tires, and he's been a victim of the numbers game in Denver. You'd think, particularly after the pathetic running game (17 carries for 25 yards) that Miami displayed last week against Washington, that the Broncos could get some real value from the Dolphins for Anderson, while losing only a player at a position of relative strength to a team outside their division.

The suspension concern seems overblown, BTW. Anderson claimed his positive drug test and suspension last November was the result of secondhand smoke, he tested below the legal limit in Colorado, and briefly considered legal action against the NFL. Shanahan went on record as supporting his version of events, as well. I'd understand if, given their recent experience with Ricky Williams, the Fins were reluctant to go near a guy with a positive drug test on his record, but Anderson seems to have been the victim of circumstances.

I dunno. For a guy with Anderson's talent, given the sad state of Miami's RB corps, I'd take a chance. Assuming the price tag's reasonable, that is.

The problem with that is Anderson is not a first time offender, if he wasn he wouldn't have already been in the program.

And, the next athlete who tests positive for pot and doesn't claim it was 2nd hand smoke, will be the first.

Anderson is still pretty good, and Miami's need is greater so they can probably afford the risk more. if they get one year out of Anderson, and then get Edgerrin James in FA, it will have been worth it.

If we made a trade we'd have to make it provisional, if he gets suspended at any point during the remainder of his contract, we get the pick back, or if it's a player we get a pick as compensation.

Now that is some funny stuff. It's true though, and that even makes it even more funny.

Don't be surprised if you see Denver taking a look at our castoff recievers as well.

That actually would surprise me, they have a bunch of similar guys in their camp and Darius Watts continues to be the hit of preseason for them.

THeir main question is the #1 and 2 spots, Rod Smith is barely seeing the field in preseason, everyone assumes he's still good, but he's 34, and coming off the worst year he's had since 1997 when he first became a starter. Lowest reception total since 97, lowest YPC of his career, lowest TD total since he became a starter. So there's a question of is Rod Smith feeling his age, or were his numbers down last year because they threw the ball less, or because they had a different QB and he and Jake weren't on the same page yet?

The #2 WR is supposed to be Lelie, by all accounts his camp and preseason mirror his first 2 years, very fast, makes big plays now and then, drops too many balls and is too inconsistent.

I still like their defense a lot but I think it's looking more and more like they're going to run the ball even more this year than last because their passing game just doesn't appear to be that good anymore.

But, maybe Gilmore would open things up
