Since Watson has been back from injury Branch has been stuck on the inactive list. Even Kenny Iwebema has more active list games then Branch does.
Not so sure he will make it on the roster next year. He has a 4 year contract due to him which means he is under contract 2 more years after this. The issue lays in the fact that in the last two years of his contract each of those years he is due a 750K roster bonus. Not sure if the Cards want to pay that. He could be a good trade canidate. DT and NT is one position that gets traded more then any other position a position that teams dont mind paying a little extra for the dreaded word, "potential".
Need to start bringing in guys who are carrying their weight.
I agree, but....
Rolle may need to stay only because he would be a cap hit if cut. Not by much but it would be there since his base salary would still be pretty do able in terms of having cap space. His 2010 salary is a completely different story though. It may be good to keep him around for nickel duty and backup FS considering Green may not be here since he is a UFA and we dont have a FS "YET" to replace him. If we would get big cap relief from it then not sure I would think about it as hard as I just did.
Also Okeafer would be a nice cap relief of about 3 Mill. But considering Laboy and Okeafer are the only ones under contract. If we get rid of Okeafer we now need 3 new OLB's to sign or draft. It might be wise to save him until after the draft.
Also I would try to trade all of them. I think we could definently get something for Rolle and Branch. Not to expensive on any teams cap that gets him and both still young. Also keep in mind that the upcoming draft might be the best one yet. Remember that the big talk for the next labor agreement is to limit rookie salaries as soon as possible the 2010 draft. Every eligible college player will think very long and hard about joing the draft even if they only get a 7th round grade from the league offices. Could be a very very deep draft where you can still find good talent on the 2nd day of the draft. 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th rounders may hold a greater value in this upcoming draft then in past drafts. So it may be wise of us to try and trade before we just flat cut these guys even if it is a lower pick then what we want.

Great point and all the more reason why we shouldn't get too attached with underachieving veterans. If there's quality in the second day and they get lucky on some UDFA's as in years past, we could get quite a few promising rookies.

I know this won't be a popular line of thought but if we can a similar bounty for Q as the Lions got for Roy Williams I think we have to do it - assuming Breaston keeps producing.
I love Q but is it worth the cap hit to keep him as a "Cardinal for life" as his later years come up. I guess Marvin Harrison is playing at 36 and Q doesn't rely much on speed but I'm not sure that's wise.
I guess my point is I would like to solidify a couple first round picks and build up through the draft. I think this should be a draft where we have 8-9 picks and really build the depth and talent level of the team.

Completely agree. I love Q, but if we can get a #1 plus another early pick or a couple later picks, I'd pull the trigger.

Cards Record this year:
2-3 With Q...the 2 wins against suspect/crappy teams
2-0 Without Q...the 2 wins against really good/above average teams
I think when Q isn't playing the rest of the offense plays more up to their ability and it actually opens things up.

I didnt hear Watson's name called much if at all on Sunday. Where was he on that 14 yarder that sealed the deal??
But yea, I wouldn't be sad if we cut Branch in the offseason. We need players who want to play.
Haggans and Okeafer were the DT's on that play. They were in their pass D package.
Not hearing a NT's name is a good thing. Just not glory position that gets your name called to often. They get their names called more often for their msitakes then their good things.

Thats what I thought. Carolina would have ran the ball if it were 3rd and 27. Pendergast should have been smarter and had his best DTs on the line in case there was a run up the gut
