Lowery is the rookie CB, the hit was by Eric Smith(ironically my little brother is also Eric Smith).

Smith will get fined pretty much everyone agrees. He made 2 mistakes there he "launched himself" at the WR and he went helmet to helmet. when you combine them into one act it's something Goodell will fine. I originally expected a suspension but now I don't.

It's actually Smith not Lowery...

I still think Rhodes is the culprit....

I really don't want to view those images, or video again. Q dropping like a rag doll is in the top 3 heart grabbing sports moments I've watched. The other two are Theismann's leg (gruesome) and Rolle throwing LJ in a circle with the facemask down the sidelines (that one because it was right in front of us, and I for a bit thought LJ might be dead).

Q is first because of the great amount of respect I have for that guy. And it's the first time I've really realized how human he is.

I think where Smith is going to get into trouble (and I think it could be relatively severe) is that his arms were at his side. The way he launched himself at Boldin -- regardless of the other Jets player behind Boldin -- first contact was going to be made by the crown of his helmet.

If he gets his arms up like he is either making a tackle or playing for the ball, and helmets collide -- probably not a fine or suspension.

But he looks in the video to be a textbook example of a deliberate spear. He looked just like Chuck Cecil.

I think that will lead --- especially given the timing -- to a "statement" kind of fine or suspension from Goddell.

Certainly could be. The reason I'm saying no suspension is that Q got hit from behind first so the argument can be that Smiths' hit would have been less dangerous if not for that.

note, I still think he went for the killshot there I can't believe there was no flag, just trying to think like a commish.

If that was Adrian Wilson making that hit it would have been a personal foul call without hesitation.

All the tests were negative and he was released from the hospital. What more do you want? They aren't going to miss something like a hematoma.

And everyone here would be screaming, "let them play! They're still trying to score, the cards should still try to stop them!"

Disagree...it's one thing to bitch about a hit like Wilson's last year when he layed out Todd Heap. After viewing replays it was quite clear that Wilson led with his shoulder and hit Heap's shoulder. This was a launch right into a helmet to helmet hit. I would hope people would have enough sense to understand the difference.
