The one thing that may keep Beanie from being the top running back in this years draft on just a yard basis is the talent and skill of our offensive line in opening up holes for him.

Beanie likes to run up the gut and not around the end as much.I don't see an argument with Stewart and De'Angelo Williams as they are two very different type runners and each play calls for a different type back.Williams gets around the end awesomely and Stewart is the bull coming over the middle or in the power runs.

Its great in the NFL if you don't have to wear your RB's down to only a four year shelf life. The latest NFL model is to have a running back by committee anyway. It works best.If the lambs lose Jackson they don't have anyone to get the job done behind him.

I'm glad we have Timmy to push Beanie also.Hightower learned an awfull lot from Edge and thats why he gave him his first gameball. Now its time for Hightower to bring Beanie into the fold even if it takes carries away from him, which I think it will.

I think we will have a three man backfield.I think they all will get thier carries, unless one of them is weak at pass blocking. We are a pass first team and even Beanie isn't good enough to change that.

Wells will make carries that none of us saw out of any Cardinal back last year.Thats a given.Whether he stays healthy all year and does'nt hit the perverbial rookie wall will be on Coach Whiz to make sure he is well rested.I think coach will handle him just fine.I also hope he can pick up the offense VERY FAST as he will come in behind, coming in late after graduation.

If Beanie can learn to pass block and also pick up the plays he will miss then he will get his playing time.It may take him a few weeks into the season to hit his stride but he will make us all very proud he is ours.

I see a lot of Jackson in Beanie.I don't see many runs past 40 yards. He will be caught from behind on the very long runs in the NFL.AP won't.

Who cares? We got one heck of a running back at pick #31.The number Beanie had to wear at the combine for the running backs. So it was made to order.I also doubt Beanie has had anything like the NFL weight training process he is fixing to be put through either.

My biggest worry is that his toe problem becomes like LT's has been in the past 2 years.A toe can ruin a running back with all that talent.I just hope it is behind him.Don't mean to be a Debbie downer.I think that is the only reason Moreno was taken in front of him.I myself liked Brown who the Colts got. They also have run blocking problems.

I think the sweater vest took it too easy on Beanie and the coddling time is over for him.Its time to take the next level step upward.I think he will make that step if he can stay healthy. Here's to the awesome playaction plays we're gonna run this season.Warner can run a mean ball fake when we have a real weapon to worry about.

JerseyGirl, I have 7 million af$n riding on Beanie and 1300+, at I believe 83 yds a game on the ground... I should have stifled back then but I let my heart talk and I did not heed your correct advice.. Point taken.

LOL. Just trying to avoid the Hextalls. (Don't ask. Family thing surrounding Flyers goaltender Ron Hextall. Basically a curse kinda thing. Sucks.)

I think Wells will be good. AP is great, and much faster. Not the same back IMO.

Roger that.

The two thing with big RB's you always wonder about are (1) How explosive and (2) How powerful?

The woods are full of big RB's who were a half-step late to the hole, weren't fast enough to get to the corner and lacked the proverbial "second gear" to break long runs. (Translation: Curtis Enos).

But sometimes a big RB who lacks elite speed and explosion can be a huge contributor to his team's offense because he does have elite power (Translation: Jerome Bettis).

How fast, explosive and/or powerful is Beanie Wells? At various times on tape, he's shown the ability to be all three - but not every single time. Plus - he's done it against college (not pro) defenders. On tape, he doesn't look as fast or explosive as AP, but he does seem to run with more power and appears fast and explosive enough.

It's exciting to imagine how good Beanie can be (and what that might mean for our offense). But like Goober Man says - let's see what he looks like in a real NFL game dodging "live" bullets.

I predict Beanie's greatest gift in the NFL as a running back will be his ability to break tackles and make a few more yards.Just what Edge could'nt do last year to help the team make first downs.

We always had to count on Warner to make that third down pass due to no chance at risking a running play for 3 or more yards.Plus the defense also knew we would'nt ever try to run Edge for that far either.

I hope we have the guy now other teams will fear that can break tackles and make that third down. Its really gonna help the pass game. Can't wait.

Kind of off topic, but I recently had the chance to look at some old footage of Ottis Anderson and they simply do not make running backs that look like that anymore. That dude was simply a freak of nature. Kind of like the bearded lady at the circus. (Thanks Wolf)

Yes, I started another Wells thread.
When the Commish announced the pick, I texted my son "Looks like we just got our Eric Dickerson!"

Yes, I think Beanie can be that good!
