So if Atlanta claimed him, we never had a chance.

According to ESPN, we were not one of the ten teams that put in a claim for him. Which makes sense, us having such a solid secondary and all

Why put a claim on a third tier(at best) CB at this time of the season? We aren't going to the playoffs and CB is one of the positions that is talent heavy going into FA. We will pick up one of the three elite CB's in FA (my guess is McAlister, although I'd be a big bidder for Bailey) and I'd bet that we will draft a CB in the first three rounds of the draft.
One thing that has to be said........Parcells has a VERY keen eye for talent and if he let this guy walk, you can be sure there was a good reason for it.

He's not third tier. He's a very promising second-year CB. And, even if he is "third-tier," what does that say about our CBs? IMO, Ross is better than Goss, McDaniel, on par with Hill, and may be a better fit for the club than Barrett.
No matter what you think of his "tier" status, there is no way to get around that that his addition would have helped improve the level of talent in our secondary.

so if you were the owner and you KNEW you were going to get one of ther top 4 cb's (hopefully vincent) and you has Starks and as you say Hill is even why would you spend the $ now on someone you havent seen in person try out?
BTW I am against signing a top CB if it means we wont get one of the top DL. You can have 2 HOF Cb's out there and it wouldnt help when a qb has 10 seconds.

As the owner, how do you KNOW you're going to get one of the top 4 CBs?

Ross was Dallas' top CB last season, which isn't saying much, but he does have great size and speed for that position. Again, I look at this the same way I looked at the Kevin Johnson situation. At worst you have a player that just hung around for the remainder of another losing season, and at best you have one less position to fill this off-season. You'd just like to see this organization, for once, error on the side of aggressiveness. And before I get the response about Jacksonville and Atlanta being higher on the waiver list, please consider that not putting in a claim at all renders that angle utterly useless.

But you conviently leave out the fact that the guy is a walking timebomb. Look at his record, it's absolutely ridiculous. It's not like the guy got caught smoking pot once or twice, he is a criminal.

How many times have the Cardinals signed the one of the top guys at any position?????? No one like that will come here until we win, and it looks like we are going to be starting all over again there.

Why put a claim on a third tier(at best) CB at this time of the season?
1. Dude is also a home run threat as a returner.
2. Nothing ventured nothing gained. (i.e. If we don't make ANY move, I guess we can just continue to line up Barrett and Hill (or Rhinehart or McDaniel or possibly Goss).
