Arizona Cardinals History: Vote for Head Coach

I was thinking of doing a series of polls regarding the Cardinals' history in Arizona.

Today we will start with "Best Head Coach in Arizona". Take your pick.

I voted Tobin for one reason, he made the playoffs and won a playoff game.

If injuries hadn't torn up that DL, he might have done it again, but all those injuries and all the money invested in an offense that never produced doomed him.

I said Bugel. Wish we could have seen what he'd have done in his next year (fired after going 7-9, but arguably had the team going in the right direction). Instead we "got a winner in town."

None of the above.

Which do you like better: cauliflower, brussels sprouts or broccoli?

Expand the pool of candidates to include St Louis and Chicago and it would be Don Coryell hands down.

I am not so sure we have anyone who would qualify for the "best" coach. I can only say they were here. I will say Buddy was the worst coach.

The poll says Arizona Cardinals, not Cardinals. Agreed if you consider non ARizona, Coryell is the clear leader.

Disaster to fire Stallings. Totally ridiculous. His record was 5-6 at the point he was fired. Still alive for the playoffs We've rarely ever seen a record like that again 2/3 of the way through the season. Anyway. The Bids letting that guy go was a huge precursor of how things would continue for the decades to come. When I look back at that debacle I am very close to being convinced things will always be awful until they finally sell the team.

Tobin, getting the cardinals to the playoffs amazing feat. They should send his clip board to the NFL hall of fame.

They also had the EASIEST schedule ever assembled in the history of the NFL. The best coach in AZ was Stallings as indicated by his W-L record. He also went on to win a Nat'l Championship with Alabama. All of the other deposed Cardinal coaches moved on to NOTHING.

That's true but he still won a playoff game, on the road, and beat the hated Cowboys.

Stallings was a good coach here I won't dispute that at all, but he also had the benefit of coaching his entire career here with Neil Lomax at QB. Give Tobin or Green a comparable QB I think they put up better numbers. Give Ryan such a QB and he'd probably have traded him away. Mac would have found a way to squander Lomax.

Stallings absolutely did not deserve to get canned.

Great stuff guys. I was hoping for some good historical perspective (however sad) by some of the older Cards fans.

Tomorrow's poll will be good too.

I'm with BIM... Though my # 2 is tough between Stallings & Tobin. I'd like the Cards to give ol' Mr. Beige a day in the new stadium, talk about making lemonade with lemons!!

Vince Tobin? lol

We had one of the easiest schedules ever that year, coupled with an emotional playoff win in Dallas.

Tobin was the biggest NON motivater I have ever seen with a clipboard.
