Are we done?

Have we made our splash in free agency? We ended up with 1 good player in Berry and one potential player in Macklin. Are the Cards looking to cap it off in the draft? We are most likely only going to get 1 impact player in the draft. Either a WR, QB, OL, S, DT or maybe even a CB. Every other round is most likely only going to provide us with players with potential that need a season or two to develop. As it stands now, we need impact players in all of those positions with the possible exception of QB. We don't have enough high draft slots or cap room to fill more than 2, possibly 3 of those positions. Which ones are going to be put on the back burner? I think they're all critical in making us competitive. Take into account that at least 3 players may not be what they were due to injuries. KVB, Starks and Clement.
DE just may be alright with a rotation of Berry, Johnson, Pace and King. If KVB isn't close to 100% healthy after June 1st, I could see the Cards cutting him.
DT is is in need unless coaching can really make a difference here. I think most people are in a agreement that we need a quality 2 gap DT here. This is the position that's going to make the defense work IF they can get pressure up the middle. If not, it's another long season. It won't matter who's in the secondary.
Speaking of the secondary, the Cards are really thin at CB unless Starks can make a full recovery. If he's not by the start of the season, I wouldn't be surprised to see them release him or make some kind of a trade to shore it up back there. The surprising thing is that the Cards don't seem to concerned about it. Maybe this is related to Greens so called "Big Surprise". Moving Wilson into a CB or NB position could help some but it leaves a gap at S.
The OL is going to be very weak on the right side with Davis moved to the left. Clements back injury, if not healed, may spell the end of him playing RT. He might be decent at RG but then who's going to be the RT.
WR is almost set. We need another threat here to go with Boldin and Johnson in Greenes system.
So it's going to depend on which one or two quality free agents we can still get as to who will be targeted in the draft and vice-a-versa. What seems to be apparent at this point though, is that we are going to be going into the season having to have some positions trying to compensate for others. If there are too many, then again, it's going to be another long season.

From what I heard Rudd is still in the valley visitng with Jamir Miller and has no other visits planned. He has stated that he would like to play for Greene. I haven't heard anything else.

Lynch could be a possibility here. He played for Green at Stanford.

Cardshark, this team is not going to solve all it's problems this year. No team can, especially if they have as many holes as the Cards. We started a re-building program last year and we are continuing to do so this year. Due to the cap, you have to build a winning team by judicious signing of free agents and a great eye for talent during the draft. This team is stronger than it was last year because of the coaching system now being put in place and the free agents we garned last year and this year. If the draft goes well and we can get some of our rookies from last year up to speed this year, it will be a good year.

We are following the same pattern used by the Bucs, Eagles, and Patriots to turn a loosing franchise into a winner. It will take 3 to 4 years to do this, but by doing it this way, we won't have to tear the team apart every 3 or 4 years because of a bad cap situation.

I know that. It's just the way everyone is going on about the draft, making it sound as though with one or two picks we are heading to the SuperBowl. We have too many needs to be able to fill them and that was my point. My curiosity is which holes are we going to fill this year? If we don't address certain areas though it is going to be another rough season for Cards fans.

If we're really going to win this year it'll take the young guys like Bryant, Pace, Fisher, Johnson, Wilson, etc, stepping up their game. We can't replace all of those guys this year, we just have to hope the new staff gets more out of them. Regardless of who we sign or draft, I think those guys are the key to the season.
