A couple of times last night the 2003-2007 version of Kurt Warner would have fumbled the ball because there was some contact on his arm and a deteriorating pocket. 2008 Warner not only held on to the ball, he stayed upright and threw a strike to the Cardinals receivers.
Nice work, Kurt. We all knew you could still chuck it under good conditions, but just a few weeks ago I didn't think you had that kind of ball security in you anymore.

Given all he has been through, including all of the folks writing his obituary time and time again over the last 4-5 years, this season has to rank as one of the most amazing performances any QB has ever put up...
His numbers are startling really... particularly when you look at how well he is controlling the ball and not turning it over. Take out the one disaster game against the Jets, and he has been virtually perfect all year!
He is such an amazing person off the field, and it was truly sad to watch such a great guy not receive a better deal, better outcome and better fortunes with respect to his career... Now, after overcoming huge odds, winning back the starting job over a guy that was once thought of as the "most NFL-ready QB to ever come out of college", and putting up a MVP season - rewarding doesn't even come close to describing the sentiment around Kurt's season...
with all the praise to the God, I'm actually starting to believe Warner IS Jesus. He's seemingly risen from the dead and only God himself could possibly be the MVP of the league while leading the Cardinals to the playoffs.

That'd be a great ESPN The Magazine photo shoot. Warner standing/walking on water. I can see it now.

Warner plays almost a perfect game yesterday....and we're just one stumble away from losing the game to a 2-6 team.
Lots of things to fix.
I agree that it's alarming on paper to have a team have no turnovers nearly lose it to another team that had 3. However, the team had 3 or 4 plays that had a direct impact on the score.
The first being was the offsides penalty on Wilson on the Rolle INT. Various other drive stalling penalties and the opening kickoff.
I do think however that SF out played the Cardinals, they nearly got caught in a trap game.
I never thought I'd ever see what I saw on Monday Night Countdown last night. None other than Tom Jackson saying that if Kurt Warner takes the Cardinals into the playoffs and maybe the Super Bowl, you have to consider him for the Hall of Fame. Amazingly enough, Cris Carter, Keyshawn Johnson, etcetera chimed in in agreement.
Nice gesture by the 100 or so Cardinal faithful who stayed after the game and chanted "MVP,MVP,MVP" while Kurt did the postgame show with Steve Young, Stu Scott, and Emmit Smith on ESPN. That interview is the first time where I really sensed how much Kurt loves his teammates and wants to see THEM experience what he did back in 1999. It would be sweet to see guys like A-dub and Anquan who have suffered thru so much losing over the years, actually experience a post-season win or three.

the two pick-6s called back ended up being a 17 point swing (I think...our 14 and they ended up kicking a FG at the end of one of the drives). Add the TD that's on the ST to start the game and while we narrowly escaped a loss, the Niners also narrowly escaped a blowout.
...and that doesn't take into account the phantom offensive PI on boldin that would have extended a drive deep into 49ers territory.
Things weren't clicking last night, but they came away with a win. Previous Cardinals teams would have gotten killed in a game like that. This one keep their heads up and pulled out the win. It's no small feat for the Cardinals to win a game like this...it's the type of game that good teams win and bad teams lose.

exactly... and we're still not even a "good" team IMO. We're an above average team striving to get better. We were 8-8 last year guys and routinely dropping games like last night. Now, were an above average squad winning games like tonight, which will probably lead us to 10 wins and a playoff game/win, but very few teams (ESPECIALLY THE CARDINALS) go from nothing to everything all at once. I understand we've had a taste of success and that might make some of us greedy, but this team is still building into what it's gonna be for the next 2 or 3 years (and hopefully more if Matt ends up being our QB of the future).

That was the play I was forgetting... terrible, terrible call. Was the Dansby personal foul call on the same drive as his INT?
Also, the idiotic attempt by Urban to field the kickoff after the 15 yard penalty. We ended up getting the ball at the 8 instead of up near the 40 if a return had been attempted
Exactly, I don;t know how many times, the Cards have lost a game like that to a team that was favored. I would usually say "yeah, they won but they looked bad, and they won't go far."
But then that team would end up going far despite barely beating a lowly Cards team.
