I've been trying to think of why they still hate us so much. I think I figured it out, well sort of. There's always going to be more reasons it appears they hate us...but I was thinking of why specifically.
Then I thought, oh yeah, I don't think we're on MNF this year. Which would mean after a MNF year without Manning, they are looking at ANOTHER season they don't have Manning.
You'd think Fox would be playing the other end, since Manning in the desert means Manning games on Fox twice a week almost every week.
If Manning signs I believe the flex schedule will need to be used with us to get us on a primetime game, and that's another hassle.
Plus ESPN would have to redo their 'best FA signings in history' spot and have us #1.
They'd have to talk about us constantly, and they don't want to. Since most didn't pay attention to us, they'll have to actually learn our roster and stuff, and they're lazy.
While it wouldn't be any different than Denver, being on the West coast will force some of them to watch a second game after their east coast games are mostly over. But not as big a deal as other sports or college football.
They know if Manning comes here, Arizona will become a destination like the Suns used to be. The spillover effect might last a decade beyond whatever Manning might play here.
Overall there are many reasons ESPN doesn't want Manning here, and probably number one they don't want to give up the kickstand usually known as the Arizona Cardinals amongst the media. They've gotten away with barely covering us since 1979, and they'll have to find another team to go to break on during the Draft.
So basically in summation; kickstand, research, laziness, and MNF is the reason.
Of course they could choose not to be lazy, or hate on a franchise, or put the coin in to redo 'fa signings', or they could be fairer about the MNF schedule by placing the Cards on there...but no...they want the world as they perceive it, and would rather have Manning not be on the cards.
It's not a conspiracy, since this is a nothing issue. But to them and their idiots, it doesn't make much business sense to ESPN for Manning to be here, so they are doing everything in their power to insert their corporate interests and craft the future they want. Screw 'em. They're idiots. Make them look like the fools they are
Peyton.
