2002 Free Agent Timeline

With all the members of this years free agent parade through CardinalLand passing through without offers, I though it would be interesting to go back and check what I could find about last years "splash" into free agency that had everyone so giddy....

March 7, 2002: Duane Starks & Freddie Jones visits Cardinals Tempe Training Facility.

March 10, 2002 Cardinals in intense negotians for Duane Starks. Competing with Ravens, Lions, and Raiders.

March 12, 2002: Duane starks "close" to signing with Oakland.

March 15, 2002: Still no Starks deal with Oakland. Arizona reportedly increased their contract offer.

March 19, 2002: The Arizona Cardinals went on a free agent shopping spree, signing cornerback Duane Starks and tight end Freddie Jones.

I know the atmosphere has been intense the last few days in here, especially with the Redskins signing 12 new players over the last 48 hours. (Dont they have to abide by the Salary Cap too?) But remember, 12 days passed between the time Starks and Jones visited Tempe and when they were actually signed.

We have boat loads of cash available to offer players. I am convinced we will land a few players that will make us a better team. Yes, it sucks to have lost DBo, but such is life. Was it a mistake to not tag him? Probably, but it isn't the end of the world.

Remember, the two most powerful warriors are patience and time!...(Holy Cr@p, did I just quote Tolstoy???)

This is a great wake up for all the doomsdayers out there. Jeez, guys read this. He is 100% right.

Cap Card, all these guys want everything to happen instantly and it just doesn't happen that way with the top tier FAs...ESPECIALLY the ones with lots of options.

Excellent points.

Hopefully the server for this board can handle it when some signings start to happen and everyone jumps back on board!
