2 key Seahawks players injuried Sat.

According to the Seattle Times, both may be out for some time....

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm...56_hawk27.html

......
Not winning was rather meaningless. The loss of two key players, presumably for some time, figures to have a lingering effect.

Starting tight end Itula Mili left Qualcomm Stadium on crutches after suffering a knee injury early in the game. Mili, who was the starter in place of the already injured Jerramy Stevens, did not return to action after his injury.

Backup strong safety Mike Green played just one series before leaving the game with an injured left foot.

"They're going to lose some time," coach Mike Holmgren said. "Just how much we don't know. But they're going to get tested. It doesn't look too good."

......

"Key" Players?

The loss of two key players, presumably for some time, figures to have a lingering effect: Starting tight end Itula Mili in place of the already injured Jerramy Stevens... Backup strong safety Mike Green
Who?

You got me excited for roughly 15 seconds.

I don't want to downgrade the importance of roster positions being filled with quality people - be they starters or backups who stepped up - But if you were to tell me the injured players included Walter Jones, Shawn Alexander, Hasselback, Tatupo or Trufant, those would no doubt be considered "key players."

But Mili and Green? Key?

Mmmm...maybe no

Stevens is expected to be out until week 6 or so.. Right?

That makes the loss of Mili pretty significant, but perhaps not key loss - big-picture wise

This doesnt concern the injuries but,

That game was funny. Rivers lost 2 fumbles within the first 2 and a half minutes. 1 was grabbed by a DT in the endzone and another was grabbed in SD territoty on the 35 yard line. So the Hawks only had to travel a total of 35 yards to score 2 TD's in the first 5 minutes of the game. The first 5 minutes was all Seahawks. Then the rest of the 1st half was all Chargers.

Rivers for the most part looked lost.

i thought mili had a bad game in the first preseason game, but had looked pretty decent and has had a decent career with the hawks - with stevens out probably until week 6 this does indeed hurt

also green has been outstanding all preseason - hamlin has looked a little rusty and little lost - green was in line to get big minutes and pass D is still my biggest concern for the hawks

I thought Rivers looked just so-so. He also lost a third fumble later and wasn't that sharp throwing the ball. OTOH, "Burner" Turner could start for a lot of teams in this league.

The Hawks looked good on defense, and struggled on offense. They need Darrel Jackson back IMO.

Yeah I really did not get the Rivers man-love on this board, Rivers is not the 2nd coming or anything the way you guys portray this guy

OK I'll dig up some links, it wasn't that long ago Skorp was advocating trading this years entire draft class for Rivers.

Or here is a quote from you

Yep, I gotta admit, I wanted to get our QBOF badly. It all worked out better than I could have dreamed.

Mili is expected to be back for the season opener while Mike Green is expected to go on IR. Green was expected to provide key depth at safety so we're basically one injury away from a bad situation at this point. I'd expect them to be combing the waiver wires for a replacement.
