aka Dressing. I traditionally make a homemade cornbread stuffing with finely chopped onion and celery and a couple mushrooms (or a crushed dried mushroom), and thyme (lots), sage, parsley, garlic, salt and pepper. It's great in Turkey or chicken, really puts a nice herb flavor in the meat, also makes a really fine stuffed pork chop. I love it, but would like to hear some other recipe ideas, because it's time for a change.
Do you have either a favorite stuffing that's a tradition, or maybe something a little different that you really liked? I made a pecan-cranberry-onion-apple-bread one a few years ago for a cornbread-hating friend -- it was OK, but nothing special.

I posted about mine last year...I love it...my husband is a "stove top" kind of guy and my kids aren't real fond of stuffing, so I don't know why I go to the trouble:
pork sausage
dried cranberries sauteed in orange juice
basmati rice (I think--some kind of rice)
seasoned bread cubes (of course)
chopped hazelnuts
shitake (or some exotic) mushroom
Trying to remember if it had apple in it...I'm feeling like I'm forgetting something. I lost the little recipe book I got it from--found it when I moved this summer, now I can't find it again!
My mom always made me a great vegetarian stuffing (yes, there IS such a thing, lol). Nothing fancy, just some celery, onion, carrots and herbs, cooked in the oven outside of the bird. Yum!

OK, I found one that is a sweet-savory apple-herb one with celery and pecans that sounds very tasty, and one that is chestnuts and bread and herbs. Both sound good, but suspect I'll try the apple one this year.

Stuffing contains meat? Or are we talking about no breading either?
Yes, I am fully are of that. I was trying to determine the exact contents of a vegetarian stuffing.
I think the hardest part of making vegetarian stuffing is that turkey or chicken broth is usually on the bread cubes for flavor. Otherwise, bread cubes, seasoning, celery, onion...dont' need much else.

Hmm. So vegetarian stuffing, still has bread cubes.....
So besides some vegetables and spices, isn't that a traditional stuffing?
I guess I am still confused as to how a "regular" stuffing and a vegetarian stuffing differ.

I just told you...."regular" stuffing uses turkey or chicken broth. I have no idea what you'd use for vegetarian stuffing, because w/o the broth, it would taste funny...

Ohhhh, from your sentence, I thought that the broth was used in a vegetable stuffing.
