OMG! I went to the Philadelphia Sandwich Company on N. Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale yesterday. They made me a great provolone hoagie and it was absolutely delicious! They also serve cheesesteaks and, while I can't know for sure, I'm assuming they're good since the family that owns the joint is from South Philly.
And they have Tastykakes (which I know some of you East Coast people understand).
Just wanted to share.

Hey Jersey, the first job I ever had was at a place that used to be on 32nd st and Camelback called "A Taste of Philladelphia". The original owners were from South Philly too. I cooked cheesesteaks, hoagies, and pizza there during the summers in high school.
I've been to Pats and Genos, and I don't think their steaks were even close to as good as the ones we made at Taste of Philly. Too bad the original owners sold the place and it went downhill.

Bummer. I certainly hope this place does not go downhill. I felt totally at home in that place. The mannerisms, the phrases, the 'tude.

Yeah we sold tastykakes at "taste of Philly". At that time, you couldn't buy them in stores and we were one of the only places you could get them in Arizona (early 1990's). we shipped them in direct from Philly fedex. Prices were outrageous but people drove from all over town to get them.

I am more than willing to pay the markup.

They sell them at albertsons now I think. Probably most grocery stores.
REALLY?! I will have to look into that. I haven't seen them anywhere.
When I lived in Jersey, I would ship them to my friend who moved to Florida. She is just now finding them down there (although they don't sell all varieties).

Crap my wife says I'm getting confused with when we moved here. Can anyone help out with this? I thought I got them in Phoenix at the grocery store but maybe I'm wrong and my wife is right.

I'm going with the wife being right. (Chicks gotta stick together, lol.)
