Packing Kids' Lunches
For those of you with kids, what do you feed them for lunch? Do you pack it, do they pack it, or do you send them with lunch money?
A typical lunch for my rugrats (3.5 and 1.5) is a peanut butter, honey and bananna sandwich with graham crackers, a fruit cup and a yogurt. Sometimes some raisins.
But, I make that A LOT. So, I was looking for some popular (with the kiddos), healthy and easy alternatives.

That would be a funny episode, next on Magnum, Magnum ends up babysitting for toddlers. Will he know what to pack them for lunch? Can he get them to daycare and pick them up and still investigate the murder of his old navy buddies wife?

I dont have any kids, but it seems like the good parents I know feed their kids about the same stuff you do. It's great that you are giving them a lot of fruit and whole foods and not a bunch of over-processed and sugary crap.
BTW, I bought some raisins for the first time in like 10 years. They are delicious.

Hey Jason. My wife and I make lunch for our 3 kids each day. It's quite a process getting them up, feed them breakfast, dressed, make their lunches and off to school. They are 13, 10 & 5. The 10 & 5 year old go to the same school. My 13 year old takes the bus to her Middle School, which leaves 45 mins before the other two need to be at school. Mornings are nothing more than organized chaos around our house.
In any event, we do try to pack lunches that are healthy, and that the kids will actuall eat! They have latched onto a few favorites, many of which are often leftover from dinner the night before, such as Chicken Cutlets and Pasta & Meatballs.
They also love Peanut Butter and FLUFF! Peanut Butter & Jelly. Bagels and Strawberry Cream Cheese.
We always pack a veggie (typically cut Bell Peppers or tiny carrots). And then toss in a bag of chips, Fritos, Dorritos...
Everyone now & then they'll get an urge for Yogurt...
Not sure if that really helps you... Just know it gets crazier as they get older, so you have that going for you!

I'd have Higgy-baby and Agatha watch the kids while I paddled my sea-kayak to the King Kama-maha Club to get drunk with Rick and TC.
When they got out of line I wouldn't send them to time-out, I'd have Icepick discipline them.

I just spent five minutes trying to remember TC's name. Wonder if it would take that long for Magnum to convince TC to take the kiddlets up in the helicopter.
I bought a Detroit Tigers hat to be like Magnum once.

I am very, VERY interested in this thread as well. It appears that my kindergarden son has had problems with diahrrea, but only when he has been eating the school provided breakfast/lunches. Today is the first day that my wife has packed my son's lunch.
I think my wife made my son a sandwich and chips, with cut up apples and a granola bar, I think

go-gurt. Kids love it, good for 'em. baby carrots always a good one, too. My daughter usually gets pb&j or a ham & cheese sandwich. I always pack her some sort of dessert, but nothing too bad.

I'm with ya on the go-gurt Linda... Although, we find that our kids go through phases... They'll go a month or so where they love it. Then, the next month they don't want to even see it! The only Cold Cust my kids will eat are Honey Roasted Turkey, Sliced Chicken Breast, and Salami. Oh, and they love chedder cheese.

I wish I could give my son something other than sandwiches. I feel guilty, not to mention the wasted $$ when he takes like 2 bites and throws the rest in the trash. Sending him to school with Cheetoes, A fruit Roll Up and a Capri Sun is not happening.

Add a bologna sandwich and maybe a snackpack and that is what I would make myself when I would make my own school lunch.

Good lord this is what my 2 year old loves and eats on a daily basis, just minus the bananas and instead of raisins, craisins

Throw some bananas in there. It's magically delicious.

My sons (10 & 7) get the standard ham&cheese sandwich, fruit or veggie (apple slices, peaches/pears, carrot sticks), treat, and a drink (older one drinks a little can of V8 and the younger one drinks a juice box). We usually let them pick something from Costco for their treat.
I usually go as a chaperon on their field trips and I’m always blown away by some of the kids’ lunches. I see some of these kids pull out these huge bags of cookies and chips and entire cans of soda. Of course they dive into these first and end up tossing the healthy stuff in the trash.
