It hasn't made it past my mouth. It's a slightly softer texture at room temp than most dark chocolate bars -- sort of between truffle and candy-bar, total melt-in-your-mouth -- so not sure how it would work as 'chips.'

Plus it's pretty expensive to use for cooking when you could use unsweetened chocolate anyhow (in a sugar-free recipe). I can justify gobbling one square a night, of course.

Oh, you have got to try the new Dove Sugar Free Chocolates - best tasting ones I've ever had.

At $3.50 for a small bag they're not cheap, but worth it!

Im fat. Pick and choose yer battles. Though I am curious how they make chocolate sweet. Is it a standard fake sugar? Or do they do something different Ive never heard of?

They use sugar alcohols (malitol)

INGREDIENTS: SUGAR FREE DARK CHOCOLATES COATING (MALTITOL, CHOCOLATE PROCESSED WITH ALKALI, CHOCOLATE, COCOA BUTTER, MILKFAT, SOY LECITHIN, PGPR, ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR), COCONUT OIL, NATURAL FLAVOR.

I'd rather not eat it at all.

There are times when I know why I am skinny. Like eating a snack bag of wheat thins for lunch today is one.

I've cut out all sugar products for 6 weeks to lose a few pounds. It's working.

dcr, I would normally agree with you, but this is much better than 90% of the regular dark chocolates I've had.

Yes, and for others whose docs tell them to avoid sugar.

My uncle was told not to have sugar after he was diagnosed with colon cancer (not sure why). My mom found him some sugar free buttercreams and, to him, they tasted fabulous.

Stupid freaking cancer killed him anyway. Cancer sucks and I hate it.

Was just curious. I could understand sugar free chocolate from a glucose standpoint, but from a losing weight standpoint, while it certainly makes sense to cut out needless sugars from your diet, chocolate is still PACKED with fat. Its like ordering a double cheeseburger and getting a diet coke with it. The sugar alcohol thing is interesting to me. I dont know a thing about it. Im gonna have to look it up.
