Cracker Barrel: All it's cracked up to be?

All this talk about breakfast foods like B&G and CFS got me hungry and the first place I thought of was Cracker Barrel.

I always get this one:

Quote:
Grandpa’s Country Fried Breakfast

Two Eggs cooked to order with Grits, Sawmill Gravy and Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits, real Butter and the best Preserves, Jam n’ Apple Butter (on request) we could find.

~plus~

Fried Apples or Hashbrown Casserole

~and~

Chicken Fried Chicken or Country Fried Steak
That way I get my CF and the B&G on one plate.

I get Mama's French Toast. In fact, I went there last night with a friend of mine who is also a big breakfast fan.

Way too southern-type cooking for my tastes.

Almost everything is cooked with some sort of meat drippings. Not a good place for a vegetarian (though their pancakes rock)!

I worked at the Golden Corral. Briefly. Boss was a jackoff. My wife (then girlfriend) also worked there.

I was banned from GC for busting the dude's chops daily...he was a freaking idiot monkey bitch...he used to play basketball with us in the morning...hairy little white dude who thought he was Michael Jordan.

But hey, the food there is pretty good.

Yeah, I used to foul the living crap out of him. We (me and a couple of people who also worked there) would run him off the hardest screens and drop him all the time. You don't know stress relief until you can knock your worst boss ever on his ass without any repurcussions.

He also made a move on my girlfriend (who was 17 at the time) and other innappropriate things. He's now a struggling insurance agent or something in that s-hole town we grew up in. Last laugh? Moi.

My wife and I drive nearly 300 miles to go shopping at a Macy's and yet we get excited at the notion of breakfasting at the Cracker Barrel.

What a boring life we lead.

For you breakfast afficianados that reside in the valley area...

Try Matt's Big Breakfast. It was featured on Guy's Diners, Dives, and Drive-Ins and the place looks incredible.

It's in Phoenix IIRC.
